pperc This looks like better data against the newer Omicron sub-variants, is that correct? I believe you were a bit disappointed that the previous baseline increase was 1.75x higher than a booster of the original vaccine iirc. This release is saying, https://investors.modernatx.com/new...micron-Subvariants-BA.4-And-BA.5/default.aspx Am I reading this correctly in that this is much higher than previously reported data of the Omicron Moderna booster?
Yeah, this looks better although I can’t remember if the 1.75 was measured from baseline or something else.
Any timeline when updated boosters will be available? Also I get that the death rate is way down from where it was, but I was a shadow of myself for weeks after what I would call a milder infection and I do not want to do that again.
Has anyone who lost their smell tried one of the olfactory kits (abscent, etc)? Ordered something like that off of Amazon. Stuck my nose in my peatiest scotch last night and registered nothing.
Just tested positive. Second time having it. Vaccinated and boosted. Feel worse this time than the first time. When I had it the first time I was unvaccinated.
Ive had a couple loved ones lose smell/taste, one for over a year now. Most everyone else it came back over a couple days or weeks Here is one protocol for smell training just in case Couldn't hurt, but is likely unnecessary
No idea where we’re headed but feels like with waves there should’ve been noticeable massive clusters thanks to NBA/NHL arenas packed for the playoffs over the last 2ish months.
well yeah but BA.4 & BA.5 seem to be doubling each week. sounds like UK numbers are approaching omicron peak
Hospitalization/serious stuff. I understand he can still get it and get sick but with the first round of adult vaccines I remember there being a percentage of the effectiveness to prevent hospitalization after the first dose and then another after the second. Wasn’t sure what it ended up being for the little kids now.
Kids just got their first dose of Moderna. I know rates of serious illness are low in under 5s but damn if doesn’t offer some sense of relief about the illness we’ve protected them from for over two years
it's impossible to know. it's such a rare event already with kids that age that you can't measure the reduction without running prohibitively large studies.
I now know of two double-boosted couples who got covid while in Europe this month, one in Paris and one in Rome. I suspect the new immune-evading variants. Fortunately, all four had mild/moderate cases, but they still made for lousy trips
Starting to feel somewhat normal. This second time was definitely worse than last years infection. Almost exactly a year apart. Still testing positive but I can see the end in site. Much more upper respiratory issues. Coughing has been horrendous. Fever lasted long too. 0/10.
This is the first time since last December/January that I’ve known of multiple people in my circle that have it currently. Definitely feels like it’s about to come roaring back.
Getting my daughter vaccinated when she turned 5 was a huge relief. Everybody I love is vaccinated but for maybe 1 person, and that person is immune from negative life consequences in general, so Covid is managed the best we can manage it.
Got our 2 year old her first shot yesterday. Has had no issues or side effects. Thrilled we were finally able to do this.
FDA voted 19-2 to recommend updated vaccinations this fall to attack more recent variants. But Congress hasn’t approved money to purchase shots, so they may not be available to all.
So the wife just came home from work with a 103-104 fever. Guessing it’s Covid. Immediately made her take advil to try to reduce the fever. Taking her temp a lot cause thats a crazy high number for an adult. Do we take the home test now or are you supposed to wait? Sorry if this isn’t the place to ask.
She spiked up to 104.5 but had a sweatshirt and blanket on. Took that off and it came down to 103 at 7:00 and 102.7 just now. Trying to see if the advil will have any effect. Yeah I know. I was ready to get her in the car to the ER before it started dropping.
Yes, didn’t have any of hand immediately and wanted to get something in her to reduce it asap. Down to 99.3. Really weird to spike like that and crash 4 hours later, but what do I know. Gonna have her take a test in the AM.
Should we get our 3 yo vaccinated now, or wait for updated cocktail this fall? She’s been in daycare since fall of 2020 and we’ve somehow avoided Covid in our house to date (with son going through K and 1 and wife being a teacher)
