This is disappointing to me as a shitty future Perez user I accept being bad at hitting but two things just continue to kill me about this game: 1) bunt defense. Should be near impossible to bunt for a base hit unless you’re Kenny Lofton or bunt into a shift. Pitchers with 40 speed should never be able to bunt for a base hit and I shouldn’t have to play bunt defense to prevent it 2) imperfect perfect pitching. If I have a perfect release, the ball should go where I aim it, not six inches closer to the center of the plate.
1. Agree. Bunts are a complete crapshoot. Sometimes a 40 speed pitcher can get a hit but it's an absolute gamble to bunt with a man on 1b bc it's likely to be a double play. And with a man on 3b, there's nothing you can do to stop a squeeze. It's just a completely prayer by the offense and you're at the mercy of the game. 2. To an extent, I agree, but control ratings matter too. Even with perfect input, a guy with shitty control is still going to miss spots. Without that, control ratings mean nothing and it's just all about input.
fair point on control ratings but the impact should be minimized with perfect input, at least at all-star and below levels (although presumably then I too would never get a hit, except against that guy who liked throwing exclusively in the zone at Laughing Mountain. I want to play him more).
I was actually thinking of changing the name to Rick Vaughn for exactly that reason. I'm honestly not sure. It's my first time doing dynasty mode on the show. But he was the highest rated OVR player in the draft so I figured I struck gold considering it was the 3rd round. I know when simming control is really important so I am going to train him only on CTRL to get that up a bit and use him as a closer early on. Then move him into the rotation when the control gets more managable. I don't play DD at all, but I really get a kick out of Marlins pitching prospects being high value guys in that mode. IRL the Marlins think Perez is going to be better than Jose Fernandez.
#PureAnalog team checking in. If you square up to bunt I'm releasing the ball early and right at your head. Where I originally aimed the pitch doesn't stop me from doing this. Just one more reason Analog is the top pitching mode.
Also applies to #2. If a pitch doesn't go where I want it to, it was me fucking up and not RNG on a perfectly executed pitch.
I don't think this is true. Control matters too. The size of the ring around the ball is bigger with low control so even with perfect input it can still be off a good bit with perfect timing. Perfect timing doesn't make a 50 control guy throw dots every pitch.
Pretty much the same. I did the POTM but haven't touched events or BR. I'm 3 innings away. These bosses go for way more than the previous ones, not sure why.
eeeh it does and it doesn't. the control rating being low moreso affects the speed and sensitivity of the pitch meter on analog. If I hit the pull back line and push up and hit the little baseball icon on the analog meter = it's gonna be where I aimed it, even with really bad pitchers. If I miss on either of those two factors with low control they miss by a LOT though compared to high control if you miss on one it still may go pretty close to where you aimed it within that circle. that's the feedback I got between pitching with someone like 95 Glavine vs. these common and bronze pitchers in moonshot events.
Fuck the little cunt Lucas who tried to only throw curves and forks to bottom of the zone or just below the zone and then tried to quit before Adley’s walkoff landed, it still counted I already hate online haha
This game is such trash. Look at this feedback. Right handed batter, early swing on a pitch a fout outside... line drive base hit to RF. That's not possible irl. Next pitch was a 3 run HR lol. Ended up being a 9 run inning and I laughed the entire time. RNG is just too much in this game and completely takes over too much.
And Maddux ain't it. 91 mph Sinker ain't it, no matter the control or break. And the 82 mph change-up isn't that affective with only a 10 mph difference. The change and cutter just don't play well off a 91 mph Sinker. Only 86 k/9 so people just foul off anything with 2 strikes. He's one and done in my rotation.
That Dallas is tough to hit, especially if someone has a good pitch mix. I definitely think there is an issue with speed and timing this year again. In the event I could have virtually the same timing for Bobby Miller, sitting fastball. Many times I was behind on his fastball, it’s 101, I get it. But I was also way ahead on his sinker, which is 97. I get way ahead on a 20 mph difference, but not 4-6 mph. I faced him numerous times yesterday. Last game was a walk off salami with Acuna.
Keuchel's FB > Change speed differential makes him very effective when you combine it with how accurate his pitches are. I've scored probably 15 runs in 5 event games. Only one of them was a non-home run. We've definitely reached the point where the game is a home run contest
I’ve been playing online more and this game is so bad, dude hit a HR when I threw it a foot above the zone.
I only throw fastballs with the intent to sneak it by as a strike or an out pitch if it's mid zone and inside.
I feel like i need to tank some games because I’m back to around 700 again and i struggle so badly at the plate at this difficulty
I get why they have the levels and it makes sense. That said nothing ruined me more than the event that was on hall of fame. I did okay in the event, felt like being in there consistently helped out my swing and I was doing great. Until I got off the event and couldn’t beat the pc on rookie. It just completely obliterated my swing.
Guy has hit 5 home runs on me. 4/5 have all been early on the swing meter. 2 were cutters foot off the strike zone away yet still pulls them for a no doubter
Done with featured program. 1 mil. He doesn’t really post anymore but ChileanNole has also started playing and has gotten super into it. He’s already doing more online that me and he finished featured program earlier today and he didn’t do Brewers, Week 4 missions, showdown or spotlight moments.
