No current trigger statute as far as I’m aware. I’m trying to get the ones expected to go into effect within the next 30 days. I believe FL has a 15 week ban ready to go but DeSantis would need to call the legislature back in session to get it through. Very possible that could happen in less than 30 days, but until it does, I planned on concentrating on the ones that are definitely going into effect in the next month or so
I’ve been searching this a little while and didn’t see the answer. What is the Clarence Thomas’ issue with contraception for married people? Is that a religious thing or something?
Hard to be proactive when ur ultimately fine with it because it will never negatively affect you. Democrats see politics as a game. 95% of them are complete sociopaths who wouldn’t give a fuck if republicans just went around openly committing mass murder(the police already do this but hey)
Just more surprised that one of the most objectively awful states didn’t make a “Worst States” list. Too busy getting upset about same sex cartoon characters kissing, I guess.
I think it’s mostly because he’s a, how should I word this? Oh that’s right, he’s a huge fucking piece of shit.
IMO the best path to fight this and support is to use the religious bullshit against them. The Satanic Temple will be more effective than the dead end ways we have done in the past.
I will say it again. It’s unfair but 16-18 year olds could change more legislation by refusing to play college ball in those states than anything a politician could do. Roll Tide to a bunch of 3 star scrubs going 8-6.
As it stands, there are only 15 states that explicitly protect abortion rights, whether through statute or a state Supreme Court precedent. I’m sure Ron is burning up the phone lines trying to get legislatures back to the capitol to push through a ban. When he does, I’ll shift my priorities accordingly.
You voted for a racist pos who said he’d get rid of Roe. It’s what and who you voted for. It’s sad that you voted for someone who’s policies you didn’t know.
I’m sure it’s been discussed but this line from Thomas is a nightmare: "In future cases, we should reconsider all of this Court's substantive due process precedents, including Griswold, Lawrence, and Obergefell," Thomas wrote, referring to decisions on contraception, sodomy and same-sex marriage. https://www.cnn.com/2022/06/24/politics/abortion-ruling-gay-rights-contraceptives/index.html
Yes but my fiancee's reservation doesn't even have the funding to staff an OBGYN or do deliveries at their Indian hospital they have to send pregnant women to the bigger hospitals in neighboring towns https://khn.org/news/article/native-american-abortion-clinics-access-tribal-land/
That would be me. I didn’t vote for him but kind of figured that it couldn’t be THAT bad. Boy, was I fucking wrong. Made sure to vote directly against him the 2nd go around.
Left out the one who's in a weird religious cult and another who's only on because one party refused to give the president's nominee a hearing
Reached out to my Democratic rep’s office. Was told that they are currently: 1. Imploring Biden to declare a public health emergency 2. Working to end the filibuster, whatever that means 3. Working on legislation to protect the right to an abortion. when I asked about the contours of the legislation and who in the senate was backing it I was told that because it’s a fluid situation, they couldn’t tell me more…it’s been how many fucking weeks since the draft leaked and you’re just working on this now? And the best you can do is blame the filibuster? I told the person on the phone that I hoped they were busy today and that these concerns were being forwarded to the rep, which she confirmed was the case for both. I also let her know I regretted contributing to the rep and would not be doing any more of that until I saw something, anything that looked like real action. Called pelosi’s office just to see if I could actually get someone on the phone. Nope, answering machine. This worthless party needs to change or just die already and make room for people who are more interested in it’s constituents than remaining in positions of privilege.
I know they’re not to be trusted, but Kavanaugh and Roberts indicated in their opinions they have no desire to bring those back up and even felt the full repeal of Roe was too much, too quickly (despite voting as such).
GINNI: I’m working with white nationalists to lynch Mike Pence and invalidate a national election to keep Donald John Trump as president. CLARENCE: Hold my beer.
Agreed. While they're often stupid and usually misinformed, the real reason they vote the way they do is because they're bad people.
Now that I've got some drugs and alcohol up in me I apologize for whatever I post until tomorrow. Also, I was just at the supreme court and it was depressing. People wearing "vote" shirts... lol
I just love that all the shit that they’re all angry about Democrats doing - thereby justifying their Republican votes to themselves - is shit that no Democrats is actually doing.
