The 90s were a fucking wild NBA time with rookie contracts before the league finally got that shit out of control. Imagine how people would react now if Banchero signed a 15-year deal with an opt out after one year with the Magic as his first contract. Because that's what Webber got from GS that forced his trade to Washington.
I’m not convinced some combo of Collins, Capella and Bogi won’t be moved for something else down the road which would open up space I’d trade Capella and Bogi for an extra wing and a pick
surprised minnesota couldn't be the team to get murray given how much they want off of russell this seems sort of light tbh
I don't see the Suns letting Ayton walk for nothing. I am also not really seeing where Ayton is getting his max deal the way this offseason has been going.
i either misread the price in the tweet i saw or it was wrong, thought it was basically 3 firsts, one of which is a swap. turns out it's 3 firsts and the swap. gallo just for money, i guess. that's a lot but i think a worthy gamble for minnesota, yeah. that's a team that's unlikely to ever be a destination for a premier FA and is about to have two max players already. Murray + Edwards + KAT is as good of a core as any in the league. and because you have Edwards locked in for so long, those 1sts should be playoff ones, anyways
Same place that had the Woj quote also had him saying "there's definitely max money in this market for Ayton" so who knows
The picks are Charlottes next year and a 2025 and 2027. We can probably get a few of those picks back for Collins
Same, but had to get my take in there. Seriously though...decent player on bad team has to put up some stats vibes
I like Murray as a player, even if this season was his high point. I would have liked him a lot in Minnesota. I don't get why he is the guy the Hawks would go in for like this. And I really don't get why the Spurs would move him for nothing but picks.
a lot of folks think he’s got about two years left and then Becky Hammon steps in… I saw him out at dinner a few weeks ago and he’s looking the best he’s looked since his wife died so that made me feel better for him… Spurs clearly all in on the rebuild and Murray was at peak value whether you like his game or not. They’re gonna be the youngest team in the league next year.
I still don't quite understand the fit, at least offensively, of putting Murray and Trae together. Both are ball dominant PGs.
while i would've loved this trade for minny, i don't really like it for atlanta. murray as a #3 >>> murray as a #2 and you lose some of the benefit of his defense because he'll be covering for trae. atlanta doesn't seem like a dejounte murray away from being a competitor so giving up all of their remaining flexibility for him seems bizarre.
After watching the Heat trap Trae because we didn’t have another guy that can dribble you don’t understand this move? Trae can play off the ball and so can DJ
Dejounte Murray is legit, low 2nd option / high 3rd option IMO. Bump this when hes choking Trae to death in December and chemistry issues start popping up. No legit PG wants to be Trae's robin.
