Basically to be attractive you have to be a historical power/name school or be in a large previously untapped market for that conference. If you have neither you’re probably fucked.
uva has the academic profile for the b1g but no new market addition. they would be a weird sec fit too but idk they could be screwed. don't know if their admin would be interested in that va tech should be begging the sec right now because that fit makes sense
My bad. I’m just excited to have news that doesn’t involve SCOTUS dismantling our democracy. you is smart (too), you is kind
first thing I texted to a friend who went is an oregon alumni, former track person that talks about this all the time. ‘I bet you wish you could be in the conference of champions. For shame.’
Cal spent $320M ten years ago to upgrade Memorial Stadium. They absolutely need football revenue to pay off the debt. Cal during the peak Tedford years was a great place for football, rocking stadium, 60k fans every week and a beautiful view overlooking the Bay. Ask the Tennessee and MSU fans how they liked their visit
Watching the Trojans and Bruins play November night games on the road in the Big Ten will be wild. I wonder if they'll make a refrigerated practice dome to prepare.
Mention this every time a realignment move happens, but fuck Texas and that stupid Longhorn Network. They don't come up with that idea, and we're probably sitting the way conferences were in 2008.
I'm not joking. I'd prefer ACC give back Miami, Va Tech, BC, Pitt, and Syracuse too. The regional rivalries/conferences/tradition was a big part of CFB for me. Every year these money hungry presidents and administrators ruin the sport a little more for me.
I'm a firm believer that most bad things in the United States can be in large part traced back to Texas.
This was all carefully planned and executed by PJ Fleck to take the heat off of those bad tweets yesterday
Oh Id love if it was viable for Missouri to play it's traditional rivals. I miss it very much. That ship has sailed. Blame Texas.
Theyre kind of all over the place on this guy's timeline https://twitter.com/Iam_VMLV?t=KFkiCo3Gf_NADHK6JXD95g&s=09
Yes, well when I say I want to ship y'all and TAMU back, that's wishing for y'all to still have Colorado and Nebraska too. The old conferences, with maybe a beefed up football only Big East including Miami, Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Pitt, Boston College, Rutgers, West Virginia + Louisville, Cincinnati, and some of the old MWC like TCU, Utah, and BYU would have been great.
No, I just want to see the realignment clock back to around 2000 and just bolster the Big East. So SC stays in SEC. Big East would be something of an anomaly but would preserve everything else the way it should be.
My dad told me Louisville was under consideration when the SEC expanded in 92. We won out with a bigger football stadium. What might have been.
They suck but considering/assuming what the money will be we'll take it. Lets not act like USC and UCLA are going from the SEC to the BIG.
IIRC there's a $50 million penalty. But the Dobbs tweet from earlier made it seem like usc and ucla would realize a net gain of $50 million annually, so maybe that isn't a barrier.
You have to "leave behind" all tv revenues til then. Not really sure what that means like do you not get any tv money from your new league til then? It would obviously be negotiated but there is no way any ACC school would let FSU and Clemson out for under 9 figures. No reason to I can think of.
