How much cap space do we have to be a participant in this upcoming KD trade. MG2 what do the simulations say
We need to sign Bagley I think to have any or renounce his rights. He has like a 28 mil cap hit that actually currently takes us over cap if I'm understanding it right
This is tweet I saw about us being over cap. But think we are barely over, so our cap space will be whatever difference between Bagley cap hit is with new contract and his cap hold of 28 mil
His qualifying offer/cap hold is only $7.2 million The trade machine on this site is pretty amazing with all the info like that it incorporates https://fanspo.com/nba/trade-machine
That's a lot of money for Bagley, and I have a hard time seeing him, Duren and Stewart all making it to the other side of this thing.
That's a lot of money but it's also not a contract that will hamstring us. With raising cap and potential for him to improve it could be an ok contract in a year or two. Wish 3rd year was a team option, but so be it. There has to be another move though, have hard time seeing Bagley, Duren, Noel and Stewart taking most the minutes at 4/5.
When the Pistons decided they wanted to do something beyond one season, they gave Bagley the leverage to get something like this. Had to give him a reason to buy out the two years beyond this. I think it's reasonable if he's playing center 20+ minutes a night. At the moment, that seems kind of unlikely to happen, which is why I'm not a fan. But they wanted Bagley for 2 years before they finally traded for him so it was probably inevitable.
Is it possible that Troy had only one pro scout this year and that person just decided to only watch the Knicks?
I think the front office wants to see Cade and Ivey play together for 1 maybe 2 games. Cade shouldn't play more than 40 mins total in the summer league. I will be interested on how Hayes and Ivey mesh together. Could be promising in the open court.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if Cade doesn't play a minute of summer league. May just be to get the guys practicing together
I kind of hope he does, as Edwards was mocking people all year for suggesting that Cade plays in the summer league.
The Pistons might still be a crappy team record-wise, but they're easily the most entertaining franchise to follow in Detroit right now.
I really wonder if another move is coming or if they are banking on Stewart jump shot coming along and him providing some spacing. I mean Stewart was only 15-46 from 3 last year, however in his last 8 games he was 11-18. Maybe something clicked end of last year with him that had the coaches encourage a huge uptick in his 3s at end of season and expect that to carry over
I think so too but I'm wondering if that's the thinking. Just trying to make sense of our current front court options. Obviously the staff sees him more and maybe that sample size in indicative of a change he made. Wasn't just making them, but shooting them more regularly end of year. Hear beat guys suggest the staff is high on his jump shot potential....who knows
I don’t think we’re going to play Nerlens Noel over Stewart and I’m sure Duren spends a lot of the year in the G League
stop feeding into that G league narrative that Edwards is spewing. No reason for a 19 year old center on a rebuilding team, to spend any time in the minors. Give him the valuable experience he needs up here. He would dominate the G league.
I don’t follow edwards except for what’s posted here. Sorry we have different thoughts about the 19 yr old center with no offensive skills
Stewart was much more refined offensively and his college ft% translated to someone that would have a chance at developing an outside shot.
The general story of they Stewart worked on his shooting all last summer, but they gave him the red light on the 3 when the season started because they wanted him to focus on other things. Then they green lighted at the end of the season and he shot well. He was also 4-28 before finishing 11 for 18.
Think this trade can be official tomorrow, probably only reason they weren't on initial summer league rosters
Duren is going to be fun Stew as a stretch 4 seems to be what they are planning the way he's playing this game
Killian in his 3rd season, 2 pts at half in a summer league game. Ivey looks pretty reckless but not surprising for a rookie in his first summer league game No way in hell I can stay up for this 2nd half
Honestly, do we need him to score at this point? If he can facilitate and defe.d, he's a usable rotation guy.
