I agree. I thought Helm was a perfect addition for this team, I also loved what Cogliano provided down the stretch. Jack Johnson looked so slow at times, especially in the post-season, but I loved the grit he provided. We should be set on defense for the foreseeable future, assuming they try to extend Teows again. Offense is top loaded and should be a beast for years to come. Just need to fill out the bottom 6.
Yeah I'm aware that what I'd like isn't going to be what Palat wants and does in free agency. I'm weary of giving someone who's a complimentary piece, battled through some injuries in his career(caused his production to drop in 18 and 19 though he's been heallthy recently), and has been through several deep playoff runs a long term deal. I really like Palat's game as an overall player who's solid in all areas and he's been great for the Lightning throughout the years, but I don't want them giving him a long term deal.
Oh I agree. I'm basically just saying that he's going to take 7x7ish from somebody and it won't be Tampa.
Really happy for Alfie. One of my favourite individuals I came across dealing with the players over the years. His wife saw me one night back in the day playing pick up soccer on Friday nights. She asked you here every Friday? Yup. Didn’t think anything of it…until Alfie showed up the following week with his boots. He’d play from time to time. He told me once had he stuck with soccer he would have played English Premier league. He was that good at 15 but had to make a choice. Going in with the Sedin brothers will bring a smile to his kids. They all loved the Sedins because they had the same first names as their dad and uncle Henrik. His kids thought it was the coolest thing.
Love hearing there is a top 6 tier and Sens draft 7. Like last year picking st 10 and the two kids Ottawa wanted went 8/9.
Probably a good move for both parties. LA likely just saved NJ and Ottawa from fucking with their rebuilds.
Faber and a first round pick for him. Probably seems low, but everyone knew Minnesota couldn't re-sign him with Parise and Suter's buyout's jumping up this year.
Would have preferred to get a forward if the Wild weren't getting a top 10-15 pick since we have a solid group of defensive prospects, but I do like Faber and at least he is a RHD - most of the ones we have are LHD. Pretty strong skater and was very good as a defensive defenseman last year for the Gophers. Just hope the offense comes around more for him.
I don’t watch a lot of Wild games, but we need goal scorers and have plenty of young defenseman. Seems to fit?
PLD to NYR seems to be the day’s rumor du jour. I don’t know how the Rangers fit it cap wise, but it absolutely fits a major need. And gotta figure Kakko is one piece on the way out considering he may get offer-sheeted and that bridge may be completely burned at this point.
Yeah, Dubois, chytil and laf seems like a perfect fit. If they work well together that gives you a great top 6
I also think it’s become pretty realistic the Rangers are in a three year window here before Shesterkin gets a major raise. Whether they should be slow-playing it a bit more or not, Dolan got involved last off-season and cleaned house. The man has no patience. The Rangers are going to make a run at it while Igor is still cheap, because beyond that it becomes a cap fiasco (regardless of how high it goes up).
Fiala can be very streaky, and don't be surprised if he gets off to an extremely slow start since that was kind of a calling card for him in Minnesota (even last year, he had something like 3 goals in the first 25 games). But when he gets hot, he gets really hot (he had a stretch in April where he had 10 goals and 13 assists in 10 games). Up until Matt Boldy joined the Wild roster halfway through last year, he never really played with a top 6 caliber forward when he was with the Wild from a skill perspective. Aside from Boldy, his linemates the past couple of years were guys like Marcus Johansson, Nick Bonino, an old Zach Parise, Freddie Gaudreau, Victor Rask, etc. It's no surprise that as soon as he got to play with Boldy, his production went way up.
I'm normally in favor of being patient when it comes to building, but with Kreider, Mika, and Panarin all at 29 or older, I do think the Rangers should just go all-in here.
Well, now the genie is out of the bottle. I expect others not involved to start announcing the same in short order.
Pronman has Wright 4th in his mock draft lol 1. Slafkovsky 2. Jiricek 3. Cooley 4. Wright 5. Gauthier
Figured it’d be him with how their search was going. No clue how he’ll do as a head coach but I liked his postgame interviews. He gave smart answers, big on analytics whenever he’d discuss how a game went.
The AAV is fantastic, especially when the cap goes up considerably in a few years. Also makes a potential buyout or trade easier. I think it’s a really good deal for Tampa.
Saw someone post earlier that there is real concern NHL players won't be allowed to leave russia to return for next season.
It's a really odd contract. (Not bad, necessarily) You almost never see that term for that low a cap hit. I was expecting like a 2x4.
Paul's only 27 so yeah there's risk but it isn't as bad as having McDonagh under contract til he's 37. Like the dude a lot but that contract will end badly with as hard as he plays and as many shots as he blocks. To that point, apparently management has asked him what teams he would waive his no trade clause for.
