Only if Fox says that by adding those two that the pot goes up for every school will the B1G do it. If its a net negative then it won't happen
Kevin Warren knew how to answer a phone when the LA schools called and said they were coming. Wow what leadership
We are getting to the point soon where its like AAA baseball vs MLB. Like why care about AAA baseball games when its just a feeder league of 50-60 teams of guys making some money while the 3 year clock runs to join the big boy league?
Seems like he also knows how to negotiate TV rights deals if the numbers being bandied about turn out to be correct
Even if the grant of rights somehow got resolved and we were ever in play for the SEC (doubtful), I am convinced UF would do everything in their power to throw a blackball. In fact, this is a scenario some old Bull Gators have been jerking off to for years. Just thinking about all the time I will have for activities on Saturdays now. Woodworking? Pickleball? Birdwatching? The possibilities are endless. Looking forward to the 30 for 30 how we went from holding the trophy in Pasadena to being forever relegtaed behind Vandy, Rutgers, Northwestern, Purdue, and Mississippi State in 10 years. Doak being turned into a women's soccer and softball stadium.
Because it'll have all the faux "pageantry" "tradition" and because ESPN/FOX/CBS/NBC will be throwing billions of dollars at it to prop it up like AAA can only dream of? I'm with ya 1000%. It's just too big to fail at this point.
If the sec and espn wanted fsu there isn’t a damn thing uf could do to stomp them. Tamu damn sure didn’t want Texas
I will never understand this conversation. The product is better now than it ever has been. The disaster that is the bureaucracy of it all hasn't impacted the actual product at all outside of more interesting matchups. It's not worse because it doesn't look like it did when you were watching as a kid.
You have to give Maryland/ Nebraska credit imo Rutgers obviously took the only life raft it had but at the time people were wondering wtf Nebraska and Maryland were doing because it wasnt THAT big of a disparity yet. Even more so Maryland imo because Nebraska was just like the teenage kid rebelling against it's daddy and trying to stick it to Texas but that's some real foresight by the Terrapins you gotta applaud em
Also objectively the 01-05 years were the best years of college football imo. Miami-OSU USC-Texas. NCAA 04
Oregon State/ Washington State to Mountain West if the Pac-12 fails apart? Trying to map all this shit out in my head.
I really want ND to somehow wind up in the SEC. Them and UNC are really the only two programs out there that move the needle for me expansion wise.
My buddy and I just had this conversation what a cool timeframe that was: Bush Push, Vince Young, Reggie Bush, Navy miracle 10 win season, Tressel Ball, The U, Urban Meyer at Utah, Louisville, Va Tech, etc so many neat stories and players and it was coast to coast with parity
I have to say, as a Rutgers fan, I am incredibly shocked that we somehow didn't completely shit the bed in a decision related to sports for once ever in our history, and somehow we were able to get a golden ticket into a mega conference. Even if we will be relegated to being beat up, give me that sweet IV of money in the veins.
I think only these two schools matter now after yesterday - only UNC and ND have national brands left not in the SEC or B1G already. They are the only schools an ESPN, Apple, or Fox would up the ante for
1997 was the best year because everything got ruined after that when we decided we needed to have "one magical champion". But 01-05 were fantastic.
I agree with you but what UF wants and what TAMU wants are definitely going to be weighed very differently.
Wallace Loh was shit on for not building more support among Maryland fans, donors, and alums prior to moving them to the B1G. But he did the right thing.
I could potentially see the SEC adding Cincinnati. Gets us a foothold in B1G country, which brings much more to the table than Clemson, FSU, or Miami would.
We were broke and had to go with the money even if it meant coughing up big bucks to the ACC to get out. Our President at the time was a B10 guy and pointed us in the right direction. I miss the ACC rivalries but it obviously worked out for the best.
what? So dumb of a take people in Ohio who want to watch sec games are already watching them. Adding a mid major isn’t all of a sudden getting more people to watch sec games Cincinnati brings nothing to the table for tv money
The SEC is not going to add anyone else until the ACC breaks up, at which point they can pick off the most valuable programs with little competition from the B1G.
What is the is going best tier two conference after all is said and done? Assuming the ACC and AAC have some sort of merger for east/south teams PAC I think is dead. Maybe MWC ends up adding Colorado, Arizona schools and Oregon state and Washington state? They might be the best out west. B12 and the rest of pac merge?
