I’d also like to point out that in the past 15 years UCLA and Southern Cal have combined to win 1 PAC 12 title. This is Maryland/Buttgers part 2. Snagging schools not because they are good and make the conference better, but for their media markets.
I don't know why the big boys don't say we'll add a bunch of new teams but they get like 60% shares for a while so you get a raise and we also make more money and just destroy everything.
Beginning to see a trend here…it seems the general consensus is we don’t football good. While true for most of the last 100 years, I’ll have you Johnny-come-latelys know we invented the sport and continue to pioneer innovations like hot tub seating at games. simply, without Rutgers, you’d all be rooting for your collegiate corn hole and stump teams. So show some god damn respect.
Yeah to get the full revenue share but the comment I replied to I took to mean the Texas/B12 model of some schools getting more than others as a model
Same, but academics would probably drive us to the B1G. The geographic/athletics appeal of the SEC is strong for me.
Geographic? Assume that’s based mostly on proximity and not Tuscaloosa, Norman, Starkville > LA, Chicago, Madison
The fact Washington and Oregon would only bring 63million is surprising and why I think those spelling doom for the acc may be wrong. Other than notre dame, not sure there’s a school that would bring a enough tv value for the b1g and sec to add.
Yeah, I agree. Notre Dame and maybe UNC seem like the only schools left that you can make money by splitting money with
Conclusion; if this is all about money, and obviously it is, the next step may be SEC and B1G teams that aren't big draws getting kicked out of their conferences
Whatever ends up happening, I'm hoping to retain UM and UF annually and I really hope those two go back to playing each other every year as well.
Being on the News Corp January 6th side of that equation is going to be a tough swallow though people have allowed themselves to look past Joel Klatts dinesh dsouza lovefest
Anyone with a pulse knows it’s silly to just include the Eugene and Seattle markets. Portland, while not a huge media market, is certainly a part of the calculus. Would be like considering Nebraska and only using the Lincoln market and not the whole state (and then some).
happy to see Texas flourishing. We’re awful and yet we have the same amount of championships and championship appearances since we left. Yikes.
