I believe Ian is capable of being good again, but he has to figure out how to command the fastball. His pitch mix is currently wayyyy too predictable.

 

He needs to figure out some kind of spin just as much. He’s been flat as shit ever since spider tack got banned.

 

He can’t get swings and misses in the zone except by the hitter thinking it’s a fastball vs a changeup. If they guess they right pitch in the zone then they’re putting the bat on it. That’s a bad recipe.

 

I think that goes back to not being able to command the fastball though. That graphic Nick Green was talking about said a lot. Almost all of his fastballs in the zone are meatballs thigh high. He's not changing the hitters' eye level within the zone. Like Owsley said though, the spin numbers are concerning. I forgot about that.
