I don't really disagree, but I'm ok with it away from residential areas if people choose to go see them. Used to live on the beach and could see 3-4 shows in either direction, but could never hear them. That was p neat.
fireworks are definitely a topic where my opinion has changed as i've aged. i have some amazing memories of july 4th with the family as a kid (even though oregon didn't allow for anything launched off the ground). and as a teenager, i loved buying crazy fireworks in washington/at the reservations. but as an adult, i've completely changed my tune. fortunately, my dog is fairly immune to fireworks but i grew up with dogs who used to get afraid on the 4th and it's the saddest thing. between animals plus ptsd from veterans plus the risk of fire (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagle_Creek_Fire) plus the injuries suffered on the 4th, it's just not worth it. besides, it seems like drone technology is good enough now to replace what fireworks can do, anyways.
For anyone that thought I was joking about the turkey - I’m definitely not. It was a whole thing that started with a client who randomly convinced one of my servers that they had an emotional support turkey and then got so deep into the narrative that they went to Compton and purchased a turkey and had it certified apparently. The group chat made some quality memes out of it.

I don’t like cats or lobsters so I killed the cat because there was one of it. Is 50 the lowest number of deaths? I didn’t have a problem pulling the lever and in general went with the lower number. Maybe only the dude who tripped vs the three who intentionally tied themselves was the only time I picked the higher number.
Color the water and/or put some lights around the bowl, and this can replace fireworks. Safer for people and the environment. Rather watch this anyway.
