Can’t do 8/6 but Sept 28/29 could be a possibility. Message me in the beginning of September. I have a 9 month old and accurately planning things 2.5 months out is a lost cause.

hudson Did you end up writing a hand written letter to Dakota Dunes requesting to play? I have heard and read the stories of people doing this at Sand Hills with varying success - curious if you got anywhere with it. I wrote a private club in NC requesting to play last week and am anxiously waiting to see if they reply. Unfortunately I'm not yet a member at a private club / instructor didn't know anyone at the desired course.

True, I feel like I’m done doubting him in majors though.

He’ll probably show up using putter on the first tee.

People seem to be sleeping on Rahm a bit. Between recent major play and links style golf, he might be my #1 overall pick this week. Xander's on fire but think it'll be a lot for him to get mentally locked back in after McManus AND Scottish wins, Rory hasn't shaken the one bad round in recent majors, etc. but those would be my top 3 in some order.

Xander won the Travelers and the Scottish Open in consecutive PGA/DPT starts, plus the exhibition McManus. The list of dudes who have won as many as 3 straight starts since 1980 is pretty low: Tiger, Rory, Duval, Nick Price, DJ and Vijay.

Of course Tiger did it 5 times, 3 times as part of even longer streaks.

I don't know how well SG divorces iron play putting you in a better position to gain strokes versus the field putting, but I have to think there is something to it that helps Will more in majors than it does at a typical weekly event

Rahm has been shit (relatively speaking) for most of this year. He did strike the ball well in Scotland but had several blow up holes and his usual meltdowns. I wouldn’t trust him.

JT has a pretty ridiculous track record at St Andrews.

If I’m making a short list:
    Favorites:
    JT
    Xander (duh)
    Spieth
    Rory (it’s time)

    Longer shots:
    Finau
    Homa

if you think the gains in putting at the majors are sustainable, then there's nothing to dislike was my point.

I'm not so sure he'll continue to outperform his skill level in putting at them. but if he does he'll continue to threaten or win every time because he strikes the fuck out of it everywhere he is.

Benign weather in the forecast. But he's been great this year - only missee cut was the US Open and 5 top 10s in his last 11 starts. Seems like a shoe-in for at least a top 20.

Feel like Shane generally is more competitive in higher scoring majors. St Andrews is going to be wonderful, but a birdie fest for sure. Winner is probably -20 or better.

Granted, his Open win was at -15 but the rest of the scoring that week wasn’t super low. And the rest of his quality major starts seem to be in tougher conditions.

Agree with everything, but the grind of a 72 hole tournament part. I really dont care if golf changed to three day/54 hole competitions. It would take some getting used to if the PGA tour did that, but I wouldnt care in the long run. Same thing with playoffs. Nothing worse than an 18 hole playoff on a Monday that so few can even watch.

I might actually watch baseball again if it started in June and ended in September. It would never happen, but that would get me caring more. I like what Silver is doing with the NBA.
