I love that when Bill compared KD going to Phoenix and joining Booker to him going to Golden St and joining Steph Russillo was just like “it’s not close”. Then Bill, realizing his comparison is terrible, “I’m taking away the titles and all the wins, it’s similar. It’s Bookers town.”. Russillo “yeah no”. Bill abruptly ends segment.
And the dumbest part is this is after Bill spent multiple pods during the finals saying there's nothing like Curry at home with that GS crowd.
ryen blasting feldman for doing an interview with whistles going off every 15 seconds was pretty funny
Not happy about this purely for my podcast enjoyment. I enjoyed her on The Athletic Football show but not a shot in hell I listen to her with Kevin Clark.
Her and Mayes were really good together. The Athletic is seemingly pivoting to scheme guys like Tice, Diante Lee, Ted Nguyen, etc
I don’t get the Clark hate. Always found him entertaining. I think he’s a little out of his depth hosting an F1 pod but enjoy his NFL pods.
He certainly isn’t the main problem with the nfl ringer feed. Although he isn’t as good in comparison to Mays or Barnwell
clark is fine as a guest (he and russillo especially have a good rapport) but i can't really stand when he hosts in other words, i like him in 15 minute doses but nothing longer
That Kevin Wildes guy sucks. Seen him on a few random First Take clips. One of the “I’m totally not a Boston homer but will defend every Boston sports team and shit on every Boston opponent”
Definitely looking forward to the trade value pod created by a guy who doesn’t watch a lot of nba relative to other pundits.
He's 37 and in the last year of the contract. You'd have to give up a ton for one year and you now he wants to be in LA. They factored in how quickly the player would bolt into the equation.
Lol Bill couldn’t even say whether he’d trade tatum for any of the others. Ryen shouldn’t mess with my hopes by saying he’s got “gtfo” vibes written all over him.
if the Celtics traded Jaylen Brown for LeBron they'd win the title 1 year of LeBron for the Bulls gives them a chance, Zach Levine ain't winning shit there 1 year of LeBron makes more impact on the Clippers franchise than Paul George ever will
I actually liked that pod quite a bit. At the very least it's better than Bill telling me about Tatum's body language that you had to see in person
agreed but the rookie stuff was tough to me. I love Jayden Ivey but putting him double digit slots above Tyrese Maxey was tough for me
RR: can you be a regular season guy w/o ever playing in the regular season? Idk why I’d expect logical consistency from Bill
I didn't have a problem with the rationale. There's a pretty good chance that contract is going to be BAD in basketball terms toward the end but I have a feeling it had more to do with the appeal of someone buying a team with an all-nba tier player who is going to be around for awhile
nah, that contract is just the first of what will become the norm for those 10-yr all star guys dame's at $46m in '23, $49m in '24, $59m in '25, and $63m in '26. he'll be 37 the next year so likely done with big-money contracts by then. butler's at $45m in '23, $49m in '24, and $52m in '25. he'll be 37 the next year so likely done with big-money contracts by then. davis is at $41m in '23 and $43m in '24. he'll be just 32 the next year so he'll be due for a massive 4-5 year contract unless there are changes to the CBA. so all three are at basically the same money now. dame has the one extra year in '25-'26 at $63m compared to butler and has two extra years on davis. but if you're factoring in contracts for the trade value column, wouldn't you also need to factor in their future contracts? in other words, if you trade for davis, you are either losing him in two years or paying him that big contract next. not sure if dame is actually better or worse than these guys (they are wings/bigs so easier to argue that they are more valuable) but he's healthier and certainly raises the floor in a comparable way. that's where he should've been booked. no fucking way is portland trading dame for jrue holiday or zach lavine.
That number isnt bad for a trade value podcast in July 2022 because of what other players might theoretically sign for in the future?
has Mallory fallen out of favor? Usually she’s on a couple of Rewatchables and randomly comes on to shriek about the Ravens here and there.
I doubt it. Mallory is very busy with all the show recaps and they are about to absolutely blow it out with the new Thrones coverage.
I just left Boston Saturday and returned to 10 degrees hotter and 90% humidity. I didn’t sweat though bc I’m built different Also: I was wildly uncomfortable when Bill was asking if Maverick was gay toward the end. Chris Ryan wasn’t feeling it either.
