I've been tasked with making a brunch reservation in Williamsburg for 10 people. I've been there once, maybe 7 years ago. Help.
well it's for my wife's sister's wedding, and her ex-boyfriend is named Jack, so I think I'll pass on the last one! Other two look outstanding, thank you!
Veronika above Fotografiska is an awesome spot. Beautiful interior and amazing food. We got invited to the Chapel Bar next door which was a cool experience to cap off the night.
At the risk of driving more of you rubes into my hood, Cafe Spaghetti is every bit as good as the hype
Help is needed, brothers.... I'm in town for 2 nights in August. Staying close to MSG. I need 2 restaurants and some bars. Food: sushi, seafood, steak, or Italian. Bars: craft cocktail cliche speakeasy vibe. Thanks!
I’m a big fan of Decoy in the West Village and their prefixe duck menu. Great cocktails too. I finally went to Isodi and their lasagna was heaven. Got to Thai Diner recently and that was great for a more casual but delicious meal I’m washed so I don’t know the chic recs all that well.
Always enjoyed the Up and Up in Greenwich Village on our visits. Haven't been since early 2020 though, so no idea if it survived.
I invariably visit it anytime I'm there. Somebody on the board just included it in their trip report pretty sure. (It's definitely still around)
My fave bar is Death and Co in east village. You can make reservations at PDT which is a legit speakeasy type place you enter through phone booth in a hot dog restaurant.
Went in London and immediately added it to my list when I saw it opened in NY Sticky toffee pudding they do is the best dessert of all time
Congrats broseph. Used to live in on garden between 7th and 8th. Prior to getting married. Some of the best years of my life. Back then (2010s) uptown was pretty dead, but it’s gotten much nicer.
Didn’t like it too much. Not bad or anything, but just not special imo. I might be a harsh critic with steak places tho
Decoy #1 but last time I checked they weren’t back open yet (can get duck a la carte at red farm but not the same).
I was able to get the prefixe at Red Farm but it’s a better vibe at the large table (which I normally hate)
Momoya (sushi) and Excellent Dumpling House are very close to your hotel. NY Pizza Suprema on 8th ave is good pizza near Penn, but from your hotel it’s not a far walk to the west village where you can have your pick of famous nyc pizza. My favorite in that area would be the nonna maria slice from bleeker st pizza.
the ragu fusilli is must order Riceballs must order Watermelon salad and arugula salad were dynamite Also had a very nice Branzino, not sure if they rotate a fish or it stays on the menu
Fusilli ragu and rice balls were the stand outs for sure. Great call. Also got the eggplant parm and it was very fun. Backyard is a nice vibe
Enjoyed my weekend spent more time with friends than site seeing, saw Elton on Saturday Birmingham feels extremely quiet now
Heading to Bill's Place in Harlem for a 7pm set on Saturday - any recs for an early dinner in the neighborhood? it's been at least 5+ years since I dined around in the area.
Among the really high end restaurants in nyc, has anyone had a really amazing experience? I’m mostly looking at places with tasting menus. I’m thinking of places like Per Se, Brooklyn Fare, Le Bernadin, Atomix, Daniel, Gramercy Tavern, etc. I’m debating on blowing it out for an upcoming anniversary
Is there anything worth checking out near the Citi Field before a day game? First time visiting in mid-Aug for 4 nights.
don't have tons of experience in NYC specifically but after a decade of hearing Le Bernadin is the GOAT for fine dining I'm going in December I wouldn't go to Eleven Madison Park anymore, although it was great when I went all the changes seem to have nuked it
Per se: Feels like you're eating in 2003. Food is good, service is fine, but meh. Jean Georges: Service is phenomenal, wine is excellent, food is a hard, hard, hard 6/10. Gramercy Tavern: It's like seeing The Stones these days. Take that how you will. Daniel: Everything about it feels antiquated. Atomix: The absolute shit. Hell yes. EMP: Fuck 'em. Oiji Mi: New one on the scene and it's fucking awesome. Jua: Their caviar starter is still the best bite I've had in the city in the last 2 years. 63 Clinton: More laid back, subtle flavor wise but super warm hospitality and the food really is quite good. Hope this helps. I still think The Simone (RIP) was the best restaurant in New York and is the best meal I've had here. But outside of that, the tasting menus at the classic french spots all just fall flat for me anymore. Although I haven't been, I'll echo what others say and note that every piece of feedback my friends have offered re: Le Bernardin has been overwhelmingly positive.
