It’s cool Lee and Swerve got the titles but really the Bucks needed a several month heel run where they clean out the division so we get Bucks vs FTR for the titles. That match would be huge
There were four or so near falls that absolutely wrecked me. One of the best matches I've ever seen in my life. Even the ref bump and table spots made sense and were used well in the context of the match.
i loved the match ending on a huge spot that wasn’t a finisher. Also the cross body from the corner into a big rig was an awesome sequence.
I noticed this too and it’s why the doomsday device needs to be retired unless the guy standing goes back as well
Gresham is a really good wrestler but he's too short and not very charismatic. Claudio dwarfed him. It was like watching a dad wrestle his child. If he thinks Tony should have given him more input on his post title run future that's fair. If he thought he should have remained champ over Claudio I don't know what to say to him.
He was also not happy over the length of the title match, which is fair. It was the opener and second shortest match of the main card.
That not Azeez. But I love that she has a body guard. She’s going to be the next big star to come out of NXT womens division.
I felt it was short too. Seemed like it was just hitting its second gear when it abruptly ended. They should have gone 20 instead of 11.
Khan isn't going to pay for an extra hour of PPV time for ROH, so they sort of sacrificed time across the board (other than women's title match) to give the ROH tag title match 40+ minutes, but it feels like the ROH title match was the only one that got short changed. Since it sounds like Dragon Lee is coming to AEW/ROH, think they should have saved that for an episode of Dynamite to give a bit more time to the ROH Title and TV title matches (that one only went 12:20). That Rush match went 15:50 so they could have put the ROH and TV title matches both right around 20 minutes had they held off on that Rush match.
Definitely a step in the right direction. First move should be to make NXT watchable again and go from there.
If HHH can capture that NXT magic on the main brands then we are in for a treat with AEW and WWE going at it.
Triple H as both head of creative and talent relations is not a good idea, long term, though I'm sure they'll find a new head of TR so he can focus on the other job.
I think Triple H needs to hand over each show to someone to run, with Triple H overseeing the overall direction. I assume Michaels continues to run NXT. No idea about the other shows.
Will be interesting to see how AEW and WWE rosters end up looking in a few years. A lot of these ex-WWE/NXT guys in AEW probably aren't there if HHH was running creative. Also potentially gives indy talent another legitimate option since Vince McMahon had forsaken the indies after AEW was easily beating NXT week after week, despite a lot of their top main roster talent having extensive indie careers.
i think NXT was on a downward trajectory because they ran out of talent. As top indy guys poured in it was amazing. Top guys would come in, be promoted, be replaced by other top guys. Eventually they weren’t able to replace the talent and I thought the product noticeably suffered.
I’m sure there will be some good changes, but the main roster is still a different animal. Just saying I wouldn’t hold my breath on Gargano- Ciampa main eventing Wrestlemania or something.
Bruce has made a career kissing ass and being a yes man, he may try to just change the ass he's kissing. If they come on tonight with just less camera cuts and zoom in and outs, it'll already be incredibly improved
I would hope there won't be frivlous rematches, people not going over at the right times because vince hates his audience and wants to deny them things that don't line up what he wants to do, better storyline decisions, and more faith in younger talent going forward with Hunter in charge. Maybe not Gargano and Ciampa going all X7 Rock/Stone Cold at the LA wrestlemanina but I would feel a lot better about a young star like Montez Ford for example in a main roster WWE with Hunter in charge.
Good luck to HHH, I hope he's able to recreate how awesome NXT was in the Takeover days. Vince is baked into the creative foundation there, though. That's going to take a loooooong time to get rid of.
Makes total sense for Steph and HHH to clean house. They need everyone to believe in the vision they have. The people loyal to Vince are just that and even if they attempt to work with HHH they won't be fully committed. HHH does gaga on NXT so I don't think you will ever see that go away on main roster. But NXT had storylines with fine details and things made sense. He would groom the next challengers and promote up the ladder. Will be curious what he does when that champion is not going to be promoted or that next star not being called up and now they need another program or slot. I don't think he ever faced that challenge in NXT. Going to take time... That's an awfully large ship to be turning around.
Unless MJF signed a longterm deal that has been kept secret, I imagine it's probably a done deal that he'll be leaving for WWE now.
