Listened to the trade value pod. I disagree with stuff on the list, but thought it was good overall and better than I expected. This is the kind of stuff Russillo is very good at as a co-host/guest and was the right person to do that pod with.
I was busy at work so I was only listening at 12-15 min chunks at a time. The editing was awful. Three different times they were in the middle of a discussion and then it cut away. For a great movie it was kind of Busch league production. Awfully edited. I didn’t think Chris was offended by the Maverick “could be gay” take. They joked about it. I feel Bill let his thoughts on Tom in real life influence his take. Weird and not really relevant to the movie.
reminds me of talking about how there's literally like 5 African Americans in Russillo's hometown back during the "A Truly Sad Week in America" fiasco. These two just have been very sheltered despite what they want to think
Listened to the Press Box podcast with Finebaum as the guest Hot take: he just isn't a likeable guy. He also listed Jim Rome as someone who doesn't care about his callers' opinions. Lol that show literally has a yearly event with callers only
Finebaum is awful. He’s either the best actor or just a shitty SEC homer. Him having to eat shit the day after FSU beat Auburn in 2013 was great. It goes to show what a hack Finebaum is. I grew up loving Rome. This was 98-2002 in the summers listening on the radio when there was few sports content during the summer. He went corporate but he got me through a lot of rough afternoons in outside sales from 2003-2007. He still has tons of regulars calling in. Finebaum is such a d-bag jealous of Rome because Rome went national and was more popular than he was.
Finebaum sucks, but I'm biased as a Michigan fan after he's spent the last 8 years trolling Harbaugh and our fan base across every ESPN platform.
He was also namedropping media management/agent people with zero context like I'm supposed to know who they were based on name alone. As someone who literally hosts a radio show, he should have known better
he’s biased because he correctly says that the SEC is a far superior conference? maybe you’re the biased homer
i just listened to ryen's intro about salary caps and whatever else. will still listen to his nba stuff and whatever else but he was going into cowherd's territory talking about "being in business with someone," ie other people who own teams. it just sucked. a lot.
"why can lebron james only make $45 million a year? most people would say that's a lot of money, but that's not the point of the exercise"
Finebaum was possibly the worst podcast interview I have ever heard. All his stories were boring as hell and he just isn’t an interesting individual.
I realize it's the dead part of the sports year but Ryen talking about the Revolutionary War doesn't seem very interesting
He's been big into Revolutionary history the last 3-4 years. I saw it pop up. Thought it looked like he an author on? Worth a shot. If not interesting then I'll just fast forward to Life Advice.
He has a history professor from Texas on, who I'm sure is interesting. Why Ryen is interviewing him, I do not know
Look, I'm as big a Patriot as anyone, but all I'm saying is the colonists could've gotten their point across while still respecting private property. And King George had a point with some of his tax acts.
His rant on how shitty the Boston fighters were in Revolutionary War during The Town Rewatchable was great.
He mostly just lets the smart guy talk with minimal comments. Except a solid “yeah that’s what’s Boston/Mass people do” wrt not taking shit from ppl.
It’s good so far. Ryen isn’t a historian, but he was interested. I’d honestly listen to that over countless NBA trade and draft recap. America‘a history anecdotes are more interesting than NBA trade machine.
Figured they were holding onto this one, pleasantly surprised to see it in my podcast feed this morning. 20 minutes in and its already very solid.
I wish they would let you know 2-3 days in advance what movie they are doing. It's annoying Bill doesnt ever do that. I only saw it once in 2008. Need to see it again. Obviously DDL performance was amazing but the rest of the movie didn't stick with me.
Never listened to a rewatchables ep but i saw there will be blood six times in the theater when it came out so maybe ill give this a listen
