That’s some crazy short term thinking. Ohio St puts out 2-3 high level NFL prospects every year. Miami has in the past but isn’t on that level. I guess they’ll find you if you’re good, but such micro level thinking. Also, there goes Flores.

    I am over recruiting.

    gold standard

Stock up? Stock down? Or stock steady? After talking with various sources over the weekend, Blue & Gold’s Mike Singer has the pulse on where Notre Dame stands with several recruits in this week’s Gold Standard.

Prospects are listed in alphabetical order in their groupings.

    STOCK UP
Baton Rouge (La.) University Lab linebacker Jaiden Ausberry: He has a commitment date lined up for Aug. 4, and Notre Dame looks to be in very good position to land him. There’s no doubt that other programs would to make a move ahead of his decision date, as Notre Dame is the favorite going into his announcement Thursday. Auburn, LSU and Michigan are considered — at least by us — as the top threats to Notre Dame.

Derby (Kan.) High running back Dylan Edwards: Notre Dame looks to be in good shape for the four-star speedster and offensive weapon. When you look at his recruitment and see that he picked up an offer from the Irish last Wednesday, booked a trip that day to be at Notre Dame the following two days and then decommitted from Kansas State on Friday, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out where Edwards is leaning. We like the Irish to land Edwards and believe his decision could come soon.

Burlington (Mass.) Buckingham Browne & Nichols School athlete Ronan Hanafin: In full transparency, Hanafin was going in the “stock down” portion of this article when we started drafting it on Saturday. The feeling for the past couple weeks had been that Hanafin was leaning towards Clemson, and that was coming from sources on both sides of the recruitment, while Hanafin himself has been quiet.

However, Notre Dame has continued to work hard in Hanafin’s recruitment and has the Irish at least level with Clemson at this point, per intel we received over the weekend. While I’d have to admit I was feeling my prediction for Hanafin to choose Notre Dame (which I logged back in February) was going to be wrong for a period there in July, I am liking it once again.

Malvern (Pa.) Prep offensive lineman Peter Jones (2024): Here’s a player who I’m really liking for the Irish. I’m not expecting him to come off the board soon, but sources rave about how perfect of a Notre Dame fit Jones is, and I believe he’ll end up picking the Irish when he enters decision mode later this year.

Cincinnati Lakota West safety Ben Minich: Notre Dame offered Minich in late July as it appeared that five-star safety Caleb Downs was trending elsewhere, and he did commit to Alabama. Minich is also high on Cincinnati, Wake Forest and Duke — the three schools he officially visited in June — as well as Oklahoma. Minich was looking at visiting Oklahoma last week, but we don’t believe he made that trip. Notre Dame looks good here.

St. Louis University High wide receiver Ryan Wingo (2024): I have to admit, it was bold of me to place a prediction last week for Wingo to end up picking the Irish, but it’s one I feel good about. Yes, I do believe Notre Dame is the leader right now, but I don’t make predictions based on that alone. Do I see the Irish actually winning the recruitment in the end? That’s the bigger question to ask, and for me, I believe the answer is yes in this recruitment. Wingo loved his two trips to South Bend this summer, and his family loved them too. The Notre Dame staff knows they’re in strong position for Wingo and won’t let up.

    STOCK DOWN
Dripping Springs (Texas) High quarterback Austin Novosad: The feeling from the get-go was that Notre Dame was a bit too late to try to flip Novosad from Baylor, but the staff made a great run at him and hosted him on campus last week. While we’re not ruling out Novosad to Notre Dame completely, it does look like the staff’s offer to Tennessee-based signal caller Kenny Minchey means that the Irish know they’re behind for Novosad. He’s likely to end up at Baylor or Texas A&M.

Pittsburgh Central Catholic linebacker Anthony Speca (2024): This may be surprising as I’ve had a prediction logged for Speca to pick Notre Dame for a long time, and I was hearing positive things about the Irish’s standing for him once again after his visit last week, but new intel suggests that ND may not be the leader here. The staff will continue to battle for Speca, who has been to Notre Dame’s campus five times. Michigan and Penn State are a couple other contenders for Speca.

    STOCK STEADY
Denton (Texas) Guyer safety Peyton Bowen & Tampa (Fla.) Berkeley Prep EDGE Keon Keeley: In talking to Notre Dame sources over the weekend, the feeling was that if the Irish could get past the weekend without Bowen and Keeley making any major decisions on their future, then it would be a win. Bowen was both Oklahoma and Texas A&M over the weekend, while Keeley spent a couple days at Alabama. And coming out of the weekend, Notre Dame looks to be in good shape but not out of the woods yet.

There are reports that suggest both players may be rethinking the status of their commitments in the next week, but the visit “high” will wear off and Notre Dame will continue to work on both players. That’s at least the hope for the Irish staff. We’re going stock steady for now, but things could change either way quickly — whether that be positively or negatively. So, all in all, Notre Dame is optimistic with both players and fighting like hell but there’s still more work to do.

St. Louis Christian Brothers running back Jeremiyah Love: We’re putting Love in this category as there hasn’t been a whole lot new in his recruitment lately, and our belief remains that the Irish are the program to beat for Love. And our understanding is that Notre Dame would happily take commitments from Edwards, Hanafin and Love, which would add to what might be the Irish’s best offensive skill class in quite some time. We’re not at the point of logging a prediction in favor of Notre Dame for Love just yet, but it’s something we’re considering as we gain more information.

    Loy on Peyton and Keeley

Over the weekend, Keeley made his way to Tuscaloosa to check out Alabama. The multi-day visit was big for Keeley, as he expressed an interest of finally getting to see everything Alabama has to offer because he was unable to see that last time. In addition, Bowen hit the road as well. He first visited Oklahoma and then headed to Texas A&M.

Here is the latest on both of them.

In talking to sources inside the Gug, Notre Dame still believes both are locked in with their decisions to play ball for the Fighting Irish. My sources connected here believe that neither of them made any type of a silent commitment elsewhere over the weekend and when pressed, each expressed a desire to continue staying committed to Notre Dame and playing for head coach Marcus Freeman.

That said, that doesn’t mean Notre Dame is completely in the clear at this time. Despite great conversations this morning and a strong belief that they are good to go moving forward, the Notre Dame coaches weren’t born yesterday. They absolutely know that the young men could be saying something to one staff and then expressing a similar sentiment to another staff. All they know is that Keeley and Bowen will continue to be recruited as though they are uncommitted prospects in a sense. The staff isn’t going to sit back and just assume they are locked in and hope for the best. They badly want these two difference-makers in the class, so they are going to be all-in and recruiting them as an entire staff, which is what they have been doing for months. Big boy recruiting. They are not going to be outworked when it comes to recruiting and they are hoping that effort, their ability to continue connecting with the prospects and their families, while continuing to show what Notre Dame can do for them now, upon arrival, and well beyond the end of their football careers down the road, pays off in a big way by getting these two to put pen to paper in December in favor of the Fighting Irish. Either way, they plan on making it extremely tough for them to say no to a future at Notre Dame.

    2COMMENTS
Outside of the Gug, there continues to be a lot of rumblings about what’s next for Keeley and Bowen. I had a source yesterday tell me that Bowen is going to eventually de-commit and end up at Oklahoma or Texas A&M. I had another source tell me that Keeley left Tuscaloosa decked out in Alabama gear and a flip is more likely than not due to confidence being at an all-time high inside the Alabama offices. Rumors get crazy at times and it’s not easy to separate the truth from people just throwing things against the wall just to see what sticks.

What I do know is that Keeley and Bowen love Notre Dame and the Fighting Irish coaching staff. You’ll be hard-pressed to find better fits for the Fighting Irish and for what Freeman is building in South Bend. They have connected well with every member of the 2023 committed class and them saying no to this brotherhood won’t be easy. However, they need to be selfish and find the best fit for them individually whether that’s Notre Dame, Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas A&M or another school. We’ll see what happens moving forward, but for right now, Notre Dame believes they can keep both in the class based on their recent conversations with the two standout ball players.

he's basically trying to say something w/o saying anything in this article
