Mesa Verde CC - got the invite from my father in law. He'd look around and say this looks good to me...ok? or he'd give it to himself if his partner was already in for par and they'd put down par/par. Yeah, that's pretty much what he was doing except you can't do that and then go around saying you shot 78....it's not a legit score to put down a 5 when you partner makes a 4 on the hole and you give yourself the next putt.
i'm all for putting out. i'm just saying there is nothing more annoying when someone grinds over a double bogey on a busy saturday. If you insist on putting out for double you better go up there and hit it.
There’s nothing more infuriating than watching guys grinding over short putts while you wait to hit your second. Saturday morning at your local course isn’t the 72nd at Augusta.
Fuck it. Only hurts them come tournament time. GHIN is going to be artificially lowered and they won’t have much practice on those short testers when $$ is on the line.
I think Tom Kim could become a massive global star. He's young and has a great personality, speaks perfect English and is comfortable doing the interviews and promotional stuff. Also has Korea and China behind him. Not to mention he's really good.
Bunch of mother fuckers in here plumb bobbing two footers while normal humans have meltdows watching from the fairway.
I'm somewhat surprised by the takes itt. We are mad at someone having a potential vanity hcp on the LOW end because he doesnt putt everything out? Speed it up and move on. If that person's score doesnt matter for whatever game you're planning have them pick it up. If he is a 10.5 index instead of the 11.4 that he should be I'd love to play him in the big tournaments that actually matter.
I putt out unless there is no chance I miss because I suck and want to take every shot I can. I move quick tho.
Most I’d ever do would be quick squat to point my alignment line at my target line if it was a particularly big putt or I was rattled outside of 2ft but inside gimme range
Net double is the max score for GHIN purposes, so triples matter in certain instances. But along the lines of what originally brought this up, if you’re scooping multiple holes at a max double, then telling people you shot X score, that’s stupid
reverse sand baggers are some of the biggest dumbasses in golf. but everyone knows somebody who is like that.
If it’s a day where I’ve got a max double or two on the card it’s not a day where I’m telling people about my score. Typically we only do the max double if we’re gambling and that person is out of it on the hole.
True. I was thinking of the scenarios like happened on Strapped (just re-watched them all while isolating) when Neil shot 76 with two triples on the card. I know he wouldn’t do it, but plenty of fluffers out there who would’ve scooped it and talked all day long about their 74
If money is on the line or I’m working on the HCP we putt it all out. If not, it’s a gimme and we’re on to the next one.
I like to go one legged and one hand, known as the Flamingo, anywhere inside 6 feet. One foot makes it obvious that I’m not trying and could have made it, if I was trying.
Damn, 76 with two triples is a little wild…..We all make fun of those fluffier types behind their backs. And occasionally to their faces. Nobody I’d rather play against for money! fair to note ESC is max double if your handicap is below a certain number (9 I think).
Pretty sure it is now net double bogey. So a 9 handicap could theoretically post triples on the 9 hardest holes.
Good lord I used to be a long hitter but I played with a college baseball player today and he was blowing it 60 yards by me. My equipment is also from the dark ages which might contribute but it felt old, man.
When I was in college I was hitting it 270-280 with a 1995ish Yonex driver. I was working at a steel mill so I had like old man blue collar strength. Now I poof it out there 250-260 and I feel like a bitch
I still hit it decent for being 40 and a back surgery but man I think about how far it would go back in my 20’s. So much is wasted on us as youths.
Haven’t had a fitting, but I tinker. Get about 30 yards more out of my current M5 configuration than a several year old Titleist I picked up used and about 15 over over off the shelf brand new things. Optimization definitely helps minimize embarrassment experienced while playing with the young ones and former hockey players
