I thought that sounded a little sports entertainy for Dynamite until I looked it up and saw that was their real ass wedding
Think it's probably fine and I can understand if they do get asked to cut their budget. The roster seems pretty bloated and all the guys they've brought in haven't impacted the ratings much, if it all. They have a pretty dedicated fan base that doesn't seem to be changing, so I could see a want to reduce the budget with the thought the expanded budget didn't increase ratings. AEW also has a ton of talent they could lose and not effect the product at all. I wouldn't be worried yet because I've seen nothing about them being unhappy with ratings or anything
They aren’t owned by WarnerMedia and I don’t think WM has any equity so it wouldn’t be a question of them asking to slash the roster, I think the issue is they may not get a lucrative TV deal they thought they might without jumping ship to somewhere else, but right now I can’t think of any other networks that have already shown a historical taste for wrestling that don’t work with WWE
I'm just taking the logical step that if they got less money in a TV deal they'd probably slash the roster. Although I'm not sure exactly how the money structure of aew works
I think AEW will be fine. They might not 3x the deal like they should, but I bet they at least double their rights with Warner. Right now they make something like 45m a year for three hours of first run programming, 52 weeks a year. If you double that to 90m, you’re just now hitting the budget for the Batgirl movie WB just canceled. And that’s just one relatively large budget movie. Considering AEW consistently wins the 18-35 demo every Wednesday night, I just don’t see a world where Turner jeopardizes losing that kind of inventory.
I have heard Warner has a slight ownership stake though I haven't heard anything official or how much that stake is. Netflix wants to get involved in the live content game and they have begun to dabble in wrestle with OVW having signed on to some deal with them. I would think if Netflix is serious about live content that they would at least give consideration to one of the highest rated cable TV products. Now rather they actually make an offer or not is a different story.
Dave Meltzer saying it seems doubtful CM Punk is ready to return by All Out on Labor Day week Also, Bryan Alvarez says... ANd Blake Christian has signed a deal with ROH. Perfect place for him. He should be a big part of ROH going forward.
If I did I don’t remember him. Looks like he was in WWE in the 2000s so unless it was before than in WVE then no I definitely did not see him.
Dax coming right and basically saying the Bucks tried to bury them. We all knew it, but at least now he is saying it.
really is such an unintentionally incredible arc going back to the "fuck the revival" days when the smarks were all behind the indie darling bucks
WM has a ownership stake in AEW. Brandon Thurston has mentioned this multiple times. Now he could be wrong but people seem to trust him when it comes to TV numbers and contracts.
“should”… what makes you think they will get less than true value? “Wins”… who are they competing against? Or do you mean generally when sports aren’t on they are #1 on cable
https://twitter.com/vintagepuro - mostly old school Japan stuff https://twitter.com/GrappleKlips https://twitter.com/tde_gif - arguably the most notable one to follow https://twitter.com/Aregularindyfan - this guy watches everything it seems and posts some real deep cuts in the indie world lol. Thankfully he uses a hashtag for each show so sometimes I just mute the hashtag if he is covering something I'm not interested in The last two post a shit ton. I don't actually follow any of them but have a Twitter list to keep the stuff separate from my main Twitter feed. If you follow the last two they will absolutely dominate your Twitter feed.
If there are no other serious bidders (which I doubt will be the case but ) then Discovery could easily low ball them. As far as wins go, for key demo ratings they are typically beating everyone on cable unless there is a marquee sporting event going on, like last week when Yankees vs. Mets was on
Only care if Scarlett is part of it. She is a big part of the presentation. Otherwise, just another guy.
what % or the 1m ish viewers that tune in each Wednesday night understand this call back? AEW raves about its demo success why would they not have networks that would want to bring that to its lineup? It’s why this idea of getting undervalue stood out to me.
Never a fan of his prior to NXT, never really did much for me in NXT. I believe some people raved about his mic work. But that never really flashed. His act screamed Main Roster and Vince instantly repackaged him. So I’m not really sure why the upside they see in him. But if anyone can get him over it’s trips
Loved it. Figured it would come into play at some point. i'd say its probably close to 50-50 who knows about that story beat though.
Maybe Liv Morgan can channel her boyfriends heel gimmick of “BO-lieve” as NXT champion into a “beLIV” heel champion.
I was honestly pretty mad at myself for watching all of this show and that kinda hooked me back to be honest
