Chip Caray obviously sucks but I can stomach the Braves broadcasts if Francouer is working with him. Peter Moylan is decent as well but they only bring him in three man booths and that means he’s working with either Brian Jordan (who has two brain cells left and spends the whole broadcast humoring himself with his inability to cogently say the word slider) or Paul Byrd (who isn’t the worst in the booth outside of occasionally wearing shirts that are busting at the seams but can be a super weird pervert when they use him as a field reporter because he’s a close talker and makes way too much eye contact).

I have a hard time giving an unbiased opinion on announcers for the teams I follow. Michael Kay may suck, idk, but he's been calling Yankees games since I was in middle school so I'm so used to him that he's just part of our summer/fall. Same goes for John Sterling. I'm not a huge Suzyn Waldman fan but it's awesome that a woman has been calling games for 25 whatever years. Same with Eli Gold for Alabama. I don't remember Alabama radio calls that weren't Eli Gold. He's what Alabama radio sounds like to me.

i grew up with Seaver and Rizzuto on the east coast for NYY games. The team was not great, but the calls were iconic as a kid listening / watching

Tim mccarver and Ralph kiner for the Mets but they were a shitshow for how good they were

I wasn't local and xm didn't start until around the time Sterling did so that's all I know. Scooter sounds fun on old calls though.

he was the hilarious old uncle. Definitely revered for the era he came from and was a connective tissue to the 70s/80s. Even if his stuff got old, was familiar for me

  10. The Dodgers broadcast is really good considering they had to replace Vin. Joe Davis is really young but is going to be calling the World Series for Fox already and I don't think it is undeserved, he is quite good. Orel Hersheiser is like a really nice uncle for home broadcasts, not exactly exciting but I find it comforting to listen to him. Orel doesn't do road games and they have had a mix of Jessica Mendoza, Eric Karros, and Dontrelle Willis calling the games. Mendoza and Karros are fine but not spectacular. I like Willis quite a bit and saw he was already doing a national broadcast this year

Didn't realize Gary Thorne had moved from the Orioles to the Mets. He's the GOAT playoff announcer. Shame he doesn't still do them. His HR calls are the best, not some canned bullshit that he says over and over again. I guess he says "Goodbye homerun" on each but he captures the moments perfectly overall.

"Ahh yea tie game Paul O'Neil, goodbye into the night of New York" before the ball lands is fantastic.

SF, SD and LAD all have good announcing crews. Angels lead guy has a great voice, but can't say I listen to many of their games.

    Arizona has a terrible crew.

    Really anything Bally is meh.

Speaking of Bally. That former Angels crew that does the Royals games cannot be on location. I think they're dead.

That's what I did last year. It was nice hearing from the other team's perspective. I just couldn't watch all the Braves games on a tablet again this season so had to switch back to cable unfortunately.

the strike zone has been wide all night too. The first miss was all on the catcher though, I don't think framing should exist but Ruiz was standing when he caught it

    Gallen is really good

James Shields had 9 straight seasons with 200+ innings. It's a shame the overwhelming majority of starters can only dream of being so durable
