Makes sense. Guessing they’re just doing another around the holidays like they normal do to get things back on schedule?
Yes. Nothing different than postponing the Olympics from 2020 to 2021 then having the next Olympics in 2022.
Ohhh. There are lots of knits to pick there. A little surprised the Blues were in Tier 1. Not exactly a ton of star power, but all 3 of the blues players had 50+ points and 25+ goals.
Who goes No. 1 in a 2019 NHL Draft redo? How do their pre-draft rankings hold up today? - The Athletic Covid probably didn't help development, but the 2019 draft isn't looking great outside of the top 6 or so players right now. (Also Zegras is awesome but I don't think any GM is taking him over Seider)
5 of the 6 kids Sens drafted have played at least one game. Shane Pinto was the first pick of the second round and did the Sens ever get ripped for taking him. Injured last season but looking like he’s going to be really good.
(1) New Jersey Devils on Twitter: "Jesp some #NEWS to drop: We have signed Jesper Bratt to a one-year deal worth $5.45 million, avoiding arbitration. He is an RFA at the end of 2022-23." / Twitter Should have just paid him IMO. I think he's going to be quite a bit more expensive after next year.
His agent knows that too, he's in line for a big payday when he puts up 80+ points and the team isn't gonna sacrifice term
Didn’t realize he could get 8 years. Thought he had to wait longer. That’s a lot of cash for a someone who will be 30 in year one
Quickly went from not sure it’s a good trade for Calgary bc they won’t sign him long term to they’re giving him too long of a contract
They had zero leverage. Huby knew they had to overpay to keep him. If not he walks to UFA as the #1 guy on the market.
I would be shocked if Huberdeau’s deal ages that poorly, barring a significant injury. He’s a very similar player to Zetterberg, and Z was still a 60 point player late in his 30’s despite having a bad back. Yeah Huberdeau won’t be a 10 mil per year guy, but he won’t be a burden either.
Hasek because the teams he played on were far less talented than the other two. He defined stealing hockey games.
Jimmy Vesey reportedly back to the Rangers on a 1 year, league minimum deal. Might as well start etching names into that Cup now.
Brodeur is one of the best ever. But he had the luxury of a top 3 defense in the NHL for the vast majority of his career.
2022 WJC | Roster (usahockey.com) I don't see the US having a lot of success this year. Goaltending is really weak and missing your best F and D from the 2021 class is going to hurt a lot.
I actually think the US might surprise people because they built a long pants hockey team. I hate that in best on best tournaments, but being this is a preseason tournament, I could see the more skilled teams not being mentally prepared to deal with a bunch of try hards.
Anytime you can emotionally attach your organization and fanbase to your worst contract, you have to do it.
This was rumored last off-season and I think most Rangers fans just laughed it off. It’s even more interesting now considering the cap crunch we face next off-season and the rampant speculation that his contract is the one we’ll need to move if space is needed. Though we shipped off our last two captains, so it would be on brand.
Lou is absolutely decimiating that franchise. A quick look on cap friendly tells me that in 2024, they will be paying 33.5 million AAV to seven forwards all over the age of 30
Interesting bit of cap manuvering by Boston. They are essentially borrowing from next year's cap to get these guys paid this year.
