ok yeah how in the world does anyone catch this stuff? I feel like I have to constantly remind myself the timeline goes Jimmy then Saul then breaking bad and then Gene/Viktor

Just to remove some (or add to) confusion, Viktor was Jimmy’s alias when he and Kim (Gisele) would run scams in early BCS

Just watched it and was absolutely floored by Rhea’s scene on the bus/shuttle. You could see the years of guilt, sadness, anger, and anxiety from what had happened from the time she met Jimmy in the mailroom to the the time Howard was killed to her boring reality of life in Florida released when she was crying. Kim tried to stay strong like she had been able to do for basically the entire show, but was unable to control herself once the dam broke. And, there was definitely a discernible emotion of disbelief that she actually confessed and questioning what she had done to herself now. Phenomenal job acting. I also loved when the neighboring hand came from offscreen to comfort her, and all you see is the hand. I thought that was beautiful choice in direction.

When Kim is standing outside of Saul's office after signing the divorce papers the lights give off some pretty vibrant colors, but out in the rain it's almost like greyscale, the black and white mundane future she's walking into.

Nitpick: Jeffy shifting the car into drive would have flashed the reverse lights as he went through the gears. He would've had to have his foot on the brake, as well, engaging the brake lights. Cops would've noticed and stopped talking about bad fish tacos. When he takes off, no change in the taillights indicating removing his foot from the brake.

A writer's device to add tension to the scene and they just decided to lean into it, I guess. Cops aren't pulling over on a random residential street to eat their dinner.

I have to respectfully disagree. I don’t feel like it was that unrealistic. I’m pretty sure I know cops who have pulled onto random residential streets to eat while on duty. It’s very tame on the “unprofessional stuff cops casually do on duty” spectrum if that’s the insinuation.

yea seems at least plausible thats good enough for me. this wasnt a major plotpoint, it was a device to move the story along.

I’ve seen two takes on Jeff crashing. One is the obvious, he panicked. The other is it was intentional to let Jimmy escape.

I didn’t even consider that during the show, but kind of makes sense :idk:

Jimmy’s biggest mistake was underestimating the old lady. He didn’t consider her a threat in any way and felt she was a doddering senior citizen so he dropped his guard when talking about the bail system in NM versus Nebraska. For a guy that is usually so meticulous, that was out of character or maybe just a demonstration of his disintegrating facade/collapse back into slipping Jimmy. Saul I don’t think makes that mistake.

I know there are people that think the episodes are genius no matter the quality , but I have to say, episode 9 and 10 were boring, anti climatic, and largely unnecessary. I haven't gotten to 12 yet. They have this brilliant show and they are trying to stick the landing. You have a few episodes to stick the landing and put a bow on this epic saga. So far they are failing pretty hard. Getting through these episodes has been a grind. At times I just have to pause it and read something else because I'm so bored. I keep thinking they are building up to something so all of this will be necessary. But shit I think they could have built up to something without boring the ever living piss out of me.

Random thought on the bus. They made the right choice at the end where we only see a hand, nothing else. They had an opportunity (I haven’t watched more than 5 mins of talking Saul, so they might have discussed) to pull back and show it connected to a familiar BB face, but they just let Rhea own that entire moment.

I think it’s perfectly acceptable to have wanted more out of those episodes solely based on where they fell in the series. They were great but I also found myself concerned they used a lot of valuable time on them.

But almost just like how much time they dedicated to Kim’s new mundane, beta life, they really helped drive the exact psyche of both characters leading to their big decisions/actions.

I doubt I’d ever rewatch them but it doesn’t mean they weren’t really well done.

Getting back to the Kim crying scene, while it wasn’t actually the last we saw of her in the show, it was the last of her story chronologically. Kim Wexler was a phenomenal character throughout the series. She was one of the best female characters I can remember in a tv show. And Rhea truly brought her to life with her performance. It was difficult to see her character arc go from such promise at the beginning of the show, to her career progression in the middle, to where it ended after falling from conscience and grace because of her relationship with Jimmy. I hated the writers for doing it to her, but I loved how she didn’t fit the mold that I had set for her in my mind after the earlier episodes. And, despite my hate, I really enjoyed the way they went with her character in the end. Her story is a self-made tragedy (like many in the BB/BCS universe). And I think to leave her character’s story with an uncontrollable bawling over her life choices was a perfect way to end her arc after she had been in control for much of her life.

I certainly hope not. There’s no need. Her story has been told. She won’t get any kind of closure from seeing Saul (he’s no longer Jimmy) caught or dead.

The baby Jesus thing with Combo and Kim sounds familiar. Was it mentioned in passing in one of the shows, or am I totally just making that up in my head?

Edit: twitter heard my question and sent me the answer, just as god sent baby Jesus to that manger.

was able to finish my binge of a rewatch a few weeks back, really emphasized just how well they developed the character arcs, then you add the incredible ride of Gus vs Lalo leading into this final run and I honestly think it's moved above BB for me, we'll see what happens when I get back to that though

rewatched this week's episode and it's wild that for two days now there's been this light rain cloud over me because of how depressing Kim's timeline ended up being

I’ve been watching the show start to finish the past month. Finally caught up with one episode left and feel like I can read/post in here now lol

I was thinking the same thing. After hearing the Kim call and him telling her to turn him in. It was like he knew she wouldn’t do it but wanted to so he was trying to get caught to do it for her in a way.

Although by the end of the episode I don’t think he has that in him anymore. He’s just a soul-less human now.

Looking back on it I wish I watched the show from day one, instead of waiting and binging it all over the past month, because there’s so many details from BB that I forgot until I see it mentioned after on Reddit or whatever. I should have at least watched BB again then started the BCS binge.

I’ve been watching with my GF who never watched BB so it’s funny to hear her ask “who’s that?” basically thinking every person who shows up was some big BB storyline.

Kim on the bus was a con. She’s back in killer mode. Unlikely, but interesting idea that was floated on a podcast

The show ends on a something stupid montage of Kim and Jimmy in jail cells, exchanging letters that say I love you
