Everyone with a child must be grounded for life bc they might slightly inconvenience other ppl by shutting a tray table 1 or 2 extra times on a flight :tebow:

Just don't be so callous and lack empathy for the people around you. I think you posts came off like that rather you meant them to or not.

I think it’s funny people think flying is sacrosanct. Like what other facet of life closes you off to small children to avoid “inconveniencing” others?

I’ve been inconvenienced more times by pets on flights than children. And I have no problem with animals.

I don't lack empathy, but I do think a dramatic teenager trying to nap at 130 is gonna be OK bc my child closed a try table a couple times during drink service whilst I constantly shifted their attention. It's not like he beat her to death and I watch chuckling

Only parents with kids should be allowed to fly, everyone else doesn't need to get where they they are going that quickly. Take a boat or a train.

    That’s the dream.

I’m joking here. And closing a tray once or twice isn’t a big deal. But I’m sure we’ve all been on flights when it’s way more than once or twice, a kid is kicking seats, screaming, crying, and/or slamming trays constantly. That’s on the parent and is more than a mild inconvenience.

Thankfully, no. But that doesn’t mean that I wouldn’t understand that my family is inconveniencing others. I like to think that I’d be considerate enough to stop my child from slamming shit/kicking. I know babies cry; that’s what headphones are for. But the constant kicking and slamming would be a big issue that the parent should take care of.

I have two kids and neither of them have ever kicked the seat or opened and shut the trays more than twice without me putting an end to it. Maybe my kids are scared of me.

Pre-kids WED: kids on planes are the worst fuck your kids.

Post-kids WED: are you a parent? If not you just don’t understand. Because you’re not a parent, you have no right to bitch about kids - we parents are trying.

Wife and I landed in Amsterdam yesterday morning and after settling into our hotel room decided to do a little walking tour of downtown. It was the Saturday night culmination of Pride Week. It was spectacular

It is still easy to find cheap flights if you search with the dates open (as it always has been) but I realize that is not possible more often than not.

For anyone who has been to Canada recently, do you have any idea on how many people are being randomly selected for arrival testing? I got sick last week and tested positive on an antigen test; there’s a note on their website that if you can provide a positive molecular test result, you’d be exempted if selected. I’m wondering/worried about the chances that I am selected and still test positive about 30 days after my positive last week

went last month, entered through Vancouver, and they did not really check any of it. 2 of our party went through Toronto and both had covid 10 days prior, no questions asked. Delta gave more of a look at the arrivecan stuff than Canadian officials.

Are you all vaccinated? Seems like thats all they care about. It was honestly a lot more chill/lax than we had anticipated.

Yes, both of us are fully vaccinated/boosted. That’s helpful, I just don’t want to have to deal with the outside chance that I still test positive at that point and proving that I’m recovered. Wife is also very unsure what to do on her vaccine card, she got it before we were married so it has her maiden name; the unhelpful pharmacist where we got our boosters just told her to cross it out and write the new name on there and she’s not convinced that something so official should be that simple

I think you will be fine as long as youre asymptomatic. We did not experience that level of detail. Brought a copy of our card, never was checked. Basically just did the arrivecan app and it confirmed all our info. You do that and youre golden. Delta vetted it at the gate. Canadian customs was basically like, come on in.

It's just a tiny airport. It wasn't notably good or bad but I only flew into it years back. The flight from PHL is easily the shortest I've ever been on.

hi yes also just had to book flights for thanksgiving and my wallet cried, going to savannah airport

delta quirk though, I called to book it with my regional upgrade certificates but I had just chosen this as my platinum gift so they weren't in my account. the rep didn't notice until the end and said just call back later so they can pull them once they populate.

she booked my upgrade into first already. it's paid and done. i'm pretty sure i could just not call and have them pull the certs and be fine, but really don't want to get stuck being moved back into coach if someone catches the mistake.

Whoa buddy. I've been pretty lucky in my travels, but Sayulita, Mexico has taken its toll. Only had one bad shit while there....but for the last 3 days it's been....

    :shitofdeath::shitofdeath::shitofdeath::shitofdeath:

Town of Sayulita was amazing. All the food was fire. Tacos, local dishes, etc. The beaches were kinda meh. Every inch had a beach chair for rent and just kinda ruined the vibe

Spent a couple notes in Sayulita last July. Enjoyed the bar scene for being a small beach town. As far as the beach, I would have to think there are better months to visit. Rainy season brings up a bunch of foliage in the tide. Also, learned you kinda get what you pay for in terms exclusivity. It’s a great place to veg out and drink Micheladas for a few days on the beach just be prepared for no more than 20 sec of uninterrupted rest before a vendor will solicit you on your beach chair.

Got back last Sunday from a week in Jalisco, primarily Guadalajara and it’s pretty wild to see the chaos down there, and in Guanajuato. Rented a car to go to Las Islitas for a day and man that would be an awful idea right now.

Man, I went to San Diego last summer with my 60-year old parents and decided to drive down to the border and walk across.

I would not suggest doing that. The walk from the border to Avenida de La Revolucion took like 20 minutes, but Google Maps takes you through some…things. Like former plazas that are now completely empty.

We got to the arch and turned around and headed back to the border.

For the most part my experiences in Mexico have been no worse than any other American city. Cleaner in some ways, dirtier in others. A lot less homeless and seedy characters. Couple police in CDMX attempted to shake us down once which was not fun.

What’s going on now is an organized domestic terrorism spree by the Jalisco cartel. The government arrested one of their top guys, and the rank and file are doing shit like holding up busses, emptying them, and setting fire to them. Setting fire to banks and C-stores. It’s not like an outburst of inter-criminal violence you read about in one of our cities. They’re terrorizing the people on purpose.

Yeah, I’m fascinated by Mexico. Actually halfway through a book on El Chapo right now which gives a pretty good glimpse into the corruption at every level of government that has led to this, not to mention the United States’ involvement.

I’d like to go to CDMX or one of the major cities. Don’t feel like I got a good representation by spending an hour in Tijuana.

Yeah, rainy season wasn't too bad....but moreso the beach was just meh. Probably been better sans kid and we got a seat and just fed drinks. I loved that in Rio. But it was just too much taken by chairs

I can't imagine high season is better in terms of crowds.

We did stay above Carricitos Beach and went there 5 of 7 days. Beautiful sand and water. 7 ppl max on the beach

CDMX is a good place to start regardless of what type of trip you want to take. Food, nightlife, architecture, museums etc. great parks. Unreal weather year round due to the elevation. Don’t have to be great at Spanish either although it helps

Mexico City is literally the center of Mexico geographically as well and east to get to other parts of Mexico from there. Personally for me central Mexico shits all over the touristy lame beach towns but that’s just me I’m not a huge beach tourist guy. Central Mexico is heaven for me I love every second I have spent there in my life

Anyone have any suggestions on where to go with parents on a vacation? For my parents 50th wedding anniversary they actually gifted my brothers and I a trip with them of our choosing. My one brother is going to Hawaii with them. I’ve been racking by brain a bit and figured I would ask. They are in their 70s. Get around pretty well, but traveling forever and hiking all day or something wouldn’t be the best option. Anyone done anything cool with parents? It would just be my gf and I so no kids or anything like that.
