Been saving a ton of money this year not buying equipment(space issue) but the fly wheel is tempting especially with that space issue. That and 200# atlas ball are top of my list. GHD too but would have to keep outside
My brother just gave me a rogue bar and like 245lbs of plates. Just moved into my house and limited room in the garage at the moment. It’s unfinished with low ceilings so overhead stuff is out. I’ll eventually have room for a small squat rack, but not a priority (I have a gym close by and one in my office too with great equipment). What are the go to stall mats? I see some on tractor supply. Need about 4 of them to make a decent deadlift/clean area? Any other recs for a small area gym? Going to try and find some used dumbbells and a flat bench somewhere. Don’t want to spend much money at all as it will not get a ton of use given my other gym options.
Follow this. But use 4 sheets of plywood for the base & one sheet of MDF for the lifting surface https://www.artofmanliness.com/health-fitness/fitness/how-to-build-a-weight-lifting-platform/
Question for any of you all about women lifting and women barbells? my wife wants to start lifting in the home gym. Probably just going to put her on a basic 5x5 plan and see bow she does. Anyone have experience with a smaller woman, that's never lifted before? I'm nearly certain she can squat and DL with a normal barbell. I 100% know she can't OH press it. Might be able to bench/row with it. Women's barbells are only 10# lighter. Wondering if I should get a form barbell that is like 15#
3-1-0 tempo squats for sets of 6 did some unspeakable things to me after a week off and 4 days of eating shit and drinking. My god.
She has some ridiculous small ones like 8#. I only have 25s. I think she has some kettle bells, but don't know the weight on em
Did an EMOM x 6 on 515 trap bar DLs today, pretty easy. Steady linear progression has done me well this year, even when I act like current capstone most weekends
My , buy her a woman’s barbell. It’s not just the 10# difference, it’s a diameter that’s going to feel much better in her hands. Also, it’s hers. It’ll give her a sense of ownership and investment into a space that’s otherwise been yours.
I bought a womens bar for lil man when he first started and all of this is 100% accurate and great points.
Watched Shaw Classic, brutal competition Takeaways; Trey Mitchell(won) is a great strongman but has weaknesses to prevent him from winning bigger shows. Shaw still a top 5 strongman but way way closer to #5 than #1. Mitchell Hooper is a monster,
think he tore his hamstring on log press. The car leg press event was really dumb, a few got injured and most the others were pissed or glad to be out of it. Edit: said it was an abductor and not a huge deal
4 sets of 6 on 3-1-0 tempo squats snatched my god damn soul. I’m done. I quit. I’m becoming a couch person
I feel like I’m getting sick and so of course had high rep deadlifts scheduled for today. I finished (only missed one rep) and it looks like I took a shower with my clothes on at the moment
Fun Birmingham, Alabama fact. Golden Flake is the only chip brand whose plain potato chips are not their number one seller. It is this flavor https://www.utzsnacks.com/products/...ps-sweet-heat-barbecue?variant=40311504175148
Bought my old lady a pink bar. Went over well. First session tonight. IDK what the fuck they teach these women in Pure Barre classes, but I was teaching a baby giraffe how to squat properly tonight. it was very awkward. Depth was def , but as soon as I got her balanced, off her tip toes, knees tracking outward over toes a bit....we started to make some progress. Bench was pretty each. She did OH press pretty well two days before when the bar came in. Now, I didn't think rowing would be so hard. I think her legs were really tired and difficult to get into the right position, but for the life of me I couldn't get her to sink her ass back and get her back parallel to the floor. I tried to show her, but she couldn't get her ass down and back or bend her knees. A little nervous how deadlifts are going to go. It's really funny how technical some basic moves are with proper form. If you've never done anything athletic in your life, I understand this is weird and a different feeling. She's going to watch some videos, which is honestly how I learned to squat correctly. I never got frustrated with her or she with me (we are pretty aggressive towards each other), she seemed to absorb and mimic my positioning when I tried to show her, but was defiantly tough trying to tell someone how to do something that has become natural movements. She seemed to like and and interested to learn.
For probably the 50th time, I skipped real food for lunch on a weekend for protein shakes(most people eat more on weekends, I don’t) and was completely lifeless last 2 days and shoulder is killing me despite not lifting since Friday Every single time this happens, 1 day I’ll quit being dumb. Maybe
Capstone 88, what’s your community saying about Wenning beating the Platz record. Heard him on elitefts saying he was an inch below parallel when he looked to me 2 inches high.
I think most raw lifters don’t pay him attention to be honest. I had only heard about it through Joe Sullivan’s stories. His whole Patreon shtick, plus his general shit head behavior seemingly made him lose a ton of popularity for a ton of the raw side.
Bit off topic but I follow powerlifters, strongmen, weightlifters, and a few crossfitters(I wouldn’t do it in a million years but respect some) on IG. Follow zero bodybuilders. Why is all my recommended follows or whatever on bodybuilding and crossfit Hate that shit
I’ve noticed that too on Tik Tok. For every WL or strongman account there’s 750 bodybuilders or crossfitters. I think they just push fitness related content to you without being specific and you just fall victim to the numbers game.
My favorite brand of Fitstagram chicks are the ones that share their 10 minute body weight banded “workouts” in thongs or booty shorts. “Yep, that’s a good workout. Those lateral lunges look great from back here.”
I’m on the last week of the 3 month Boring But Big 5/3/1 progrum. Does anyone know of a linear progrum that I can enter 1RM numbers and it spits out a workout for me? I remember doing candito’s linear progrum a few years ago. Should I do that again? -yours in creatine SCSA
PRS Performance, The Strength Athlete, and Calgary Barbell are a few free programs off the top of my head. More powerlifting focused but still plenty of accessories.
