Watching the pressers vs taking the snippets on Twitter are night and day. Our writers do a shitty job of actually summarizing the message a lot of the time
Please please give me someone super athletic back there instead of a walk-on who fair catches 80% of the time
Freeman have a helluva rye smile in saying Diggs would be back next week. Honestly, that’s probably the best news we could’ve received. Given the attrition/lack of depth at WR, you absolutely need to be able to use Chris Tyree in multiple ways to keep the defense honest. Diggs coming back allows for that.
and I love that Buchner was the one who threw the pick today throwing across his body because that's a mistake he will learn from and not repeat against OSU
I know we expect them to be better, but I have a sneaky feeling our OL will be quite the handful for teams to physically deal with this season, which could open things up for our skill players, even if they aren't the flashiest bunch. The individual OL pieces are just too good to not have some kind of impact under HH.
it does sound like the heavy tackling portion of camp is over so hopefully the injuries will calm down a bit over the next 2 weeks before the game
So, is Styles more dangerous in the slot or the outside? It seems you'd have some matchup nightmares if they can put out 2 decent outside receivers, Mayer attached, and Styles at slot.
full update from D3 Been on the phone last night and today trying to see where everything stands. *** On Peyton Bowen, from talking to sources the last few days on both sides it sounds like things are in a great place with Notre Dame and Bowen. I know, I know. But the communication has been great, and I was told that Bowen won’t be taking any official visits. Now, he will be going to games this year with his brother, so brace yourselves for that and take that however you want. He’ll also likely be back to Notre Dame on November 5 for the Clemson game. But his communication with the ND staff and the ND commits has always been good, but it’s really ramped up over the last week or so. *** So what does that mean? After Keeley de-committing nothing should be taken for granted. But you look for signs and the signs here are trending in the right direction. Communication is constant and everyone from the coaches in Texas, his family and Peyton are all saying the right things, and the family is still very much on board for Notre Dame. Notre Dame sources were nervous a couple weeks ago even though they were hearing all the right things, they are way more confident now. *** On Jeremiyah Love, Notre Dame continues to remain confident they will land him. The uncertainty is the timing, as he hasn’t set a date, but our sources on both sides of this have not changed the entire time. He is trending to Notre Dame and Texas A&M has never been able to close the gap on the Irish. Communication remains constant and right now for Notre Dame it’s about closing. As of this morning, the Irish are feeling quite good. *** On quarterback, Notre Dame is still working hard on the position but don’t expect many names to pop. There are some kids committed elsewhere that Notre Dame is working on, so you might not hear much until someone is ready to make a decision. There are a couple of guys, however, the staff is very interested in right now and is working hard on, and the commits are as well. *** CJ Carr continues to say he wants to stay in the 2024 class, that’s the intel, the next is my opinion, but the longer the Irish don’t have a QB in the class the more and more I think there might be some pressure on him to change. Not pressure from Notre Dame, but pressure CJ puts on himself to step into the void. *** Regarding the rest of the 2023 class, all the commits knew this was coming regarding Keon. None of them have been affected based on our talks with them and their communication with the staff.
Really positive scrimmage reports so far from d3. Meriweather is a dude. Offenseive line looked good. I forgot kristofic played in 8 games last year
On a lighter note, fsu misspelled official on its paper offer. The amount of dumb shit that has come out of that program since jimbo is wild
It’s really easy for the wheels to fall off. For as much as Kelly sucked and killed a kid, he kept the car on the road. Freeman seems to get that too so far.
Kelly was unbelievably good at the little shit, the daily minutiae of cfb. LSU is going to love that part of him.
I will say, if Patterson does in fact play vs OSU, then it's a big sign that we can take Freeman at his word on injuries
Eh he actually said questionable so I don’t know if I’d judge him on that one. Diggs and Wilkins for sure
That was a concerted effort to move in the direction of organic, green-friendly produce in stadium concessions.
Hey look guys, we found who screwed that up. Going to guess you also let "Norte" make it to the basketball tickets back in the day.
The Keon background is wild. Coaches/friends are pissed off and his uncle/mom are allegedly cutting deals left and right and forcing him to open it up to get paid. Feel bad for the kid. Reminds me a lot of tuitt and gt but worse since his family doesn’t seem to give a fuck about what he wants. Spoiler: Loy I still believe deep down Keon Keeley wants to be committed to Notre Dame. Not much will make me think otherwise. I also previously stated that others in his camp wanted him to look around, take a strong look at other schools, consider different, potentially better opportunities. From what I’m told, Keeley felt obligated to do so. He did. He took some visits. To be honest, I am not sure how much choice he had in the matter. He seems like a people pleaser and he’s trying to just do what’s best for everyone in his corner. Now, the stuff about Alabama is real. That’s why I picked them on the crystal ball. My best sources believe he’s going there and things were sitting heavily in their favor following his latest trip to Tuscaloosa. They have been super confident for a while. Behind the scenes, I’m told he was still saying positive things to Notre Dame, but the other side of the story is that sources away from the Gug were only hearing Alabama, which I wrote. Bill Kurelic took my reporting about some in his family wanting him to look around a step further when he stated that his uncle is essentially running the recruitment and helping out, of sort. Things were going through him, from what I’m told. I heard about this person from multiple schools, which I mentioned after it first came from Kurelic. I’m not going to speculate or even get into others’ comments about him locking up deals behind closed doors or things like that, because I don’t know that for sure and again, I don’t think it’s right to just throw that stuff out there without proof. What I do know is that Notre Dame genuinely believes deep down that Keeley still wishes he was committed to the program, but he’s trying to please others in his process and make the best decision for his future and everyone around him. I don’t know what else to say or that you want me to say about the situation. Hearing some of the things I’ve heard, hearing about Keeley’s struggles with all this, it’s sad. He really is such a good kid. I feel for him because all this wasn’t easy. His decommitment was something he had not expected to do. I know this decision isn’t sitting well with everyone. I’m told his high school coaches are upset. Some of his close friends are upset. They wanted him to stick with this decision. The commits are bummed. He stopped communicating with them. I don’t know about him blocking anyone, but unlike Peyton Bowen, I was told this weekend that Keon stopped communicating in their commit group chat. Peyton is still very active for what its worth. I’ll add, Notre Dame loves Keon. I still think they’d answer his calls if he comes around and things go a different direction at some point. Al Washington badly wants to coach this young man because they’ve become so close over time. Marcus Freeman and Chad Bowden feel the same way. They feel all this was out of their hands and they did everything right, which I agree with. Some things are just not going to work out in this era and when it’s not someone’s sole, singular decision. Because like I said, I really believe Keon has always wanted Notre Dame. That spring game visit, watching him with the fans, man, I’ll never forget that. It was an incredible moment. It’s crazy to think how much changed since then. That’s what I got. Again, if others want to throw even more out, take personal shots, toss rumors out there like fact, it is what it is. It’s just not me. I can’t do that and do not feel right doing
It’s Dante Moore all over again. A kid where Notre Dame led heavily early on, though in this case he actually committed. But ultimately he was never totally sold on the school, which kept things open enough for others to get bags of cash on his behalf. I wish our beat writers would just tell it how it is. The kid doesn’t love ND. He was never solid. If he was, he would’ve shut down his recruitment 6 months ago.
In the NIL world you just aren’t getting the truly elite players unless you’re dropping a huge bag up front
Particularly QBs, WRs, and Edge Rushers. The going rate for those guys is upper six figures plus. QBs in the millions. Just is what it is. Honestly really hope Carr reclassifies because I don’t want to deal with another 12 months of fending off collectives.
With all due respect I think this is a bullshit take. He’s an 18 year old kid and if his mom and uncle are pulling him ultimately most kids are going to follow. None of us know him so to say he doesn’t love nd or was never solid is unfair.
I sat next to Jac in a class randomly. Nice kid. We bonded over being hungover as shit for a Friday morning class.
He was taking visits a week or two after he committed. He never shut down communication with any other coaching staffs. There were constant updates from other schools’ recruiting beat writers about the constant communication and visit planning he was doing for months. Im not blaming the kid whatsoever. He can do whatever he wants. But this story about him loving ND and being solid is ND beat writers trying to make themselves feel better about the situation. The kid was a soft commit at best from the beginning. Again, nothing wrong with that, but just tell it like it is. You don’t hear about Drayk Bowen talking to other staffs every week for a reason. The kid is solid. He shut down his recruitment entirely. This is akin to a girl breaking up with a guy and saying “it isn’t you, it’s me”, and our beat writers are the guy that takes that comment at face value without reading between the lines. She just wasn’t that attracted, sorry.
Granted it's only Loy's take, but what in there tells you he wasn't sold on the school? Maybe his family wasn't, but it sounds like he was.
Midwest kids, Plains kids, and Northeast kids need to be 90% of ND’s class. In that entire region only Dante Moore played NIL games this cycle- move the fuck on from the South. Ohio State is getting burned also from the South I’m glad ND has been so active in the NE and Midwest early in 24
The fact that he never shut his recruitment down after committing. If a kid is totally set on a school, they’re not going to continue speaking to other coaches or going on visits. It’s like claiming your relationship with a girl is totally committed despite the fact she’s still on dating apps. It’s very, very easy to read between the lines.
Some of this had to be coming from other commits, and I'm guessing his friends from school who are coming to ND as well.
