At this point, if you hold this opinion, you're saying it's impossible for the Republicans to win the presidency (outside of vote count shenanigans). He's going to be the nominee if it isn't trump and it has to be something nearing a coin toss on him winning
Good. Now prosecute those Republicans who ran a fake candidate that cost a Dem candidate an election…what’s that you say? Not a big deal?
So some felons whose rights to vote should have been reinstated by the vote of the people tried to vote honestly but are now the subject of these stupid fucks. Yeah this really warranted a press conference that looks like it could have been a brief about an actual tragedy
It's the one of the few plays left in the "rampant voter fraud" argument. Hell some state (maybe Florida) prosecuted & convicted someone under similar circumstances after the state's own voter outreach representative said it was ok to vote. I believe the conviction was eventually overturned, but as the saying goes "the cruelty is the point" and these circus shows are only publicized to muddy the waters when it comes to voting eligibility.
I know this chudity is not news, but as someone who enjoyed Win Ben Stein’s Money, it still is disappointing
As someone who greatly enjoyed Win Ben Stein's Money as a youth, I find the revelation of him being a racist dickhead to be incredibly disappointing.
Unfortunately, the law to reinstate felons voting rights excluded those convicted of murders and sexual offenses. Besides the poll tax part where they tried blocking people with outstanding fees and fines, this further splitting of hairs muddies the waters just that much more. Suffice it to say, you do the time, you deserve your rights back (or never should have them taken in the first place). If you’re gonna tax me, you damn well better let me have a say in how that representative government who legislates over me is constituted.
Theres also the centrist idiots who think as long as you can speak well kinda means you cant possibly have terrible ideas or motives So much of desantis's popularity comes from media fawning over him for, like, not eating paste on TV like donald
Apart from Desantis making decisions that killed people during covid so he could build his name for ‘24, what is broken in Florida at the moment?
Floridians voted to restore the right to vote to ex-cons and the Florida GOP still pretends their constitution wan’t modified to do exactly that and are now arresting people for voting when their constitution says they can. i type good run on sentences.
Yes and I’m not implying things aren’t stupid. I read the headlines about the shitty stances on social issues. I’m wondering from ppl there or who are reading more in depth. I’d like to articulate this better for some older folks in my life.
Well, they’re banning books left and right spitting on the whole “free speech” thing. Today was an example of his voter intimidation/suppression tactics. The “don’t say gay” bill. The whole woke bill thing. That’s just a few fucked up things he’s doing. I’m sure others can add more.
Public education is my biggest worry. It’s very broken and getting worse. I’m sure it’s affecting poor areas in ways that’s not making it into the media.
He’s extremely anti-education Embraces the anti-LGBTQ agenda Appointed a vaccine truther as surgeon general Politicized funding for public universities Revoked Disney’s zoning out of spite Attacked social media companies Obsessed with “woke” culture Obsessed with Trump and Trumpism Voter disenfranchisement Anti-weed Fired an elected state attorney for saying he wouldn’t prosecute women who sought abortion Signing the ridiculous “Anti-Woke” bill
GOP made it near impossible to figure out if you have any outstanding fines from your felony so they can fuck over anyone specific people
FL court recently ruled that a parentless 16 yo would not be permitted an abortion, because she wasnt mature enough..whatever the fuck that’s supposed to mean
Oh, that reminds me- De Santis also responding to the teacher shortage in FL by allowing military vets and their spouses (based solely on the virtue of being married to a service member) to become teachers, with no formal training beyond a high school diploma or equivalent.
And then defended it by saying that people with “real world experience” who are proficient in math should be teaching instead of people who went to some school that teaches them to teach. There aren’t enough adjectives to describe how dumb this man is.
His “parental rights” bullshit has its biggest effects in how teachers are treated in Florida and it’s only going to get worse. As if parents needed more reasons to be assholes to teachers
But if they’re anything like most Tennessee secondary and elementary school teachers, they’ll still vote Republican in every election.
He also signed the law granting civil immunity to some dipshits who mow down protesters in their cars.
Listening to Stay Tuned w/ Preet and was reminded that Trump pulled out the Muslim Ban doc to sign at Mattis’s swearing in
