He keeps trying to climb up the side of the crate. He's also gotten the cone off a few times. The wife is currently out at the store trying to find a solution to that.
We kept the cone off him for a little while until I caught him licking. Put the cone on him and now he's curled up passed out on his bed.
We've started letting Butters have a little freedom in the house with the dogs up. So far this morning he went underneath a bed and the wife had to entice him to get him in a carrier to take to work and this evening he went behind the TV and couldn't figure out how to get out. He's getting around quite well with 3 legs only a couple days after surgery. He did try and scratch his ear with his missing leg which almost made my wife cry.
it's like 95 out or whatever. they're doing the thing where they want to go out but they forget that it was 95 degrees 15 minutes ago when they tried to do it last. door opens and they're like "fuck that" and turn around immediately. i think we're on the 5th attempt of this.
Two new kittens incoming. Brother and sister likely to be named doctor Emmett brown and Murphy brown. Pics in 2 weeks.
Anyone had a cat with crystals in their urine? Ours has peed outside of his litter box several times recently so took him to the vet. They said it is painful so the cat associates litter box with pain. On medication and has to be on some special food. Fucking a that shit is expensive. Likely going to try and clear up the infection and get better quality but cheaper food.
Yes ours got that pretty young. We had him on special food while it cleared up but then switched to a regular wet food diet after that. We didn't keep him on prescription food. The issue is really getting more water in his diet so long term fancy feast or whatever worked for us.
Pancho has had some pretty serious scares with urinary crystals, including a blockage which almost took his life. He’s been on Royal Canin urinary so food for about 3 years now and hasn’t had any more blockages. He’s always been a big water drinker, so that was never an issue. It’s expensive, but it’s way less expensive than the emergency vet bills and surgeries I paid for in the past, so I don’t sweat it.
my >18 y.o. cat has been missing her box due to her senility and arthritis. She walks into the box, but she can't get low enough any more, so she ends up peeing over the side. So we put pee pads down around the edge of the box.. and now she pees on the pee pads which isn't great. So now there's basically a 10 square foot zone in the basement that's just her box area. One box for poo, one box for pee, and a bunch of pee pads. She also peed on my shoes a few weeks ago, but I think that's more because she gets super pissed off by the 2 stray boys that I've been feeding out in the yard.
Our guy is only 5. I think our house is cat cursed. Both of our previous cats died less than a year after moving in. They were youngish and healthy.
Mine just mostly uses the pads cause of reasons. We buy them at Costco. Employee: awww what kind of puppy? Me: no puppy…cat pees outside the litter box Employee: oof
Pancho’s issues started occurring when he was 2, so it’s not age related. Much like Hank Hill, male cats have very narrow urethras.
we are back in the cat game after a couple of year hiatus. mother in law found her in their driveway at about 3 or 4 weeks old. she’s been great with the kids so far as well and very social. she’s just a lunatic for about 4 hrs every morning
My cat has/had serious UT issues when I first got him, had a blocked UT which he could have died from per the emergency vet - putting out multiple water bowls around the house, at least one on every floor, and switching to wet food for dinner cleared up everything and he’s had no issues since.
Cats are obligate carnivores. Wet food is the best thing you can do for your cat’s health. Good cat food (not necessarily expensive) is 90% calorically made up of fat and protein. catinfo.org should be mandatory reading for house cat owners.
alright. WE'RE BACK, BABY! the cream female is Murphy Brown and the silver male is Doctor Emmett. They are absolutely adorable. And terrorists.
we’ve had her for 8 months now i think… fucking love this thing. when we come home she runs toward the door, flops, and waits for belly and head rubs.
didnt realize having the blackest cat ever would make it so difficult to get pictures so kids have resorted to putting doll accessories on her
My guy is going to be 9 in a couple months. He still has lots of energy and likes to play but just knowing he’s getting close to being considered a “senior” just fucks me up to even think about
Wife sent me this today. She bought this bench and put it in her office which overlooks our driveway. The bus stop is at our driveway so Bryant loves to watch the children get on and off the bus. He sprints there in the morning and afternoon when he hears the bus if he isn’t already there. One of the moms told my wife that her daughter tells her every day if she saw him in the window or not.
Kittay is now in the early stages of kidney disease. I have to keep her on a low protein diet, which means she looks like this anytime I don't give her the chicken I cook.
