Chalk about another empathetic millennial who has paid off their own student loans but are happy as fuck for all those that this helps.
I don’t know if we actually need more tradespeople, but it sure is fun watching the cons making 400k+ annually suddenly and in lockstep pick up arms on their behalf today
Is there a website or process yet on how to pick which loans you want forgiven? Don't think I've seen that put there yet
I know we shouldn’t engage this fucker (NK), but a lot of people have no idea what it takes to be a plumber. The amounts of high level science and math in a “trade” curriculum blows a lot of peoples’ minds. Just because someone is a plumber, doesn’t mean they aren’t smart. Although they probably don’t listen to multiple logistics podcasts.
You won't pick anything. If the DOE has your income info it'll just happen. Otherwise there will be a process to send your income info.
You view a trade job such as being a plumber as beneath you and your fiance. "College isn't for everyone but eew trade jobs are beneath me." You view yourself as an elitist that should get free schooling while others shouldnt be offeted the same. Fuck you.
Even if you accept that plumbers are "dumb" which is suspect on its face, his argument is essentially they should make less and have a more dangerous job because of the set skills they were unlucky enough to get at birth.
Do they offer advanced schooling for plumbers? Can you get a masters? Doctorate? I think trade schools should be free and offered by the states.
Definitely. I don’t know why this is controversial. I’m not smart enough to do her job or get her degree.
Bc you're putting a cap on the intelligence of a plumber. You're making assumptions they aren't very bright. You may not be smart enough to be a rocket scientist but you're not too smart to dig ditches. Assuming someone isn't very smart based off their job complete ignores starting points in life. The Dr grew up in a wealthy family that greased the wheel for them the entire time. The plumber grew up in a low income one parent home and has to drop out of school at 16 to help with bills. There's definitely some plumbers out there that are much smarter than your fiance.
Sure bc they didn't have the opportunity to go to med school. That doesn't change who is smarter though.
You think everyone has the same iq/intelligence/drive? She has been a charge nurse for 5 years now and definitely has seen dumb/non-driven nurses that shouldn’t be working at Vanderbilt, at least at the SICU.
I would bet that skilled trades have a stronger correlation to the amount of money in their parents’ bank accounts at birth than with intelligence.
His fiancée didn’t go to med school. First he said she’s going to be a nurse practitioner(?) but now he’s calling her a physical therapist? I’m not sure why a PT would transition to a NP.
No, I don't think everyone had the sme iq. I do think there are some plumbers out there with a higher iq than your fiance.
Skilled trades are very frequently for over achievers from poor families. Real smart and industrious and grew up poor? Start and own the plumbing company. One or the other, work as a plumber. Regular ass person from a poor family? Work in a plant or something killing yourself every day. This is the real sweet spot for a college degree differentiator because this person from families with more money is making more and working in much better conditions in some white collar job after college even if they’re sort of mediocre. Obviously these all have exceptions.
There are all sorts of levels of plumbing/electrical etc... certifications from residential to industrial and specialties. These can require years of understudy and hours. But I guess they don't count because they aren't called "masters" or "doctorate"
Saw a few memes yesterday about millenials crashing it trying to login...so I'm guessing they've had some issues
Need to figure out who owned my wife’s FFELP loans (they were serviced by Navient). Was under the impression those weren’t ever going to be eligible to be forgiven so we paid them off with the stimulus. But it sounds like *some* are eligible and we could claw back the pandemic payments.
Nobody deserved to die the way he did and deserves to burn in Hell more than Ronald Reagan part infinity.
My wife, who rarely ever discusses politics, mentions the Roe decision at least once a week. Came up again yesterday when I asked her if she saw the debt relief news. If it’s me running a campaign, I’m including codifying Roe as a top bullet point.
I'd go so far as to even build it into a "body autonomy" bill that has carve outs for declared vaccine emergencies. It would be obvious that people would still have to get vaccines, but call it something like "My body my choice" bill to keep the mouth-breathers at bay. I might have overwonked it though.
My wife doesn't follow day to day politics at all. But she knows more about abortion rights and is more passionate about it than anyone I know. Overturning Roe was a direct assault on millions of people just like her. They have no idea how much they fucked up by doing it.
Republicans are caught in a, well deserved, tough spot. They have milked evangelical votes for decades and now they have to answer for the historically unpopular consequences of that partnership. You cannot alienate an entire gender. The horrific tales of 10-14 year old children with their lives ruined by this will continue to come up and women will continue to be empathetic toward it. 100k shirtless drunk white men chanting "Fuck Joe Biden" at Talladega just because they don't like a trans woman playing high school sports doesn't have the same weight as the 10 year old forced to coparent with her rapist for 18 years. Fuck Republicans. Fuck Republican apologists.
