2-1 W over Bilbao. Goals from Wilson and ASM. Really wish we could get a striker/winger/forward in before next weekend but doesn’t sound/seem likely. Multiple people reported we bid 40mil for James Maddison but Leicester wants 60
This is good. Paying manager is going to be more LIV tour than the transfer window. Doesn't matter if we fire him tomorrow. Good for Eddie.
Given the following options, if only 1 can be accomplished between now and the end of the window which one are you choosing? CM to start over Willock RM to start over Almiron Joao Pedro from Watford as maybe RW/ST depth/youth piece I lean CM because I actually rate Almiron above above Willock, and I don't think Shelvey is a natural fit in that role even when he returns in January, but I am curious if I am alone on that one. The downside is that Murphy behind Almiron is trash right now, so depth may be a bigger issue at wing and Almiron may be a strong fit as a sub that can press like crazy. Long run, both are needed for sure.
I think we have more players that can play CM than RM. I like Miggy, but he is a step behind compared to the rest of the starting mid field. I would choose an RM, someone younger is fine, that can split time with Almiron. Fuck it.... let's buy one for each.
One for each is the way to go. I do think a loan is a decent bridge as well. Feels like that is inevitable at one of the two spots.
Sounds like Howe hinted at playing Isak on the right when Wilson returns (ASM - Wilson - Isak), which would add more cover to the RW and allow Almiron to serve as first wing sub. I wonder if that is what Howe views as a preferred lineup this fall or if they are still looking for a starter at RW for this window. Seems like the long run solution is Isak up top, new RW, but one can only make some many move and Howe loves Wilson. Still hope we see a forward-thinking CM come in (even on loan) but I think the numbers require the squad to be reduced by 3-4 still, right? Plenty of work to do on that end.
The Athletic claims that Isak had his wages tripled, but he still is making less than Trippier, who's on 110k/w(highest wage on team)
If Wood is up top and ASM is out, I might prefer to see Almiron on the left (if he starts). Encourage more crossing to the massive man that can't create his own chances. Watching ASM and Almiron cut inside with Wood's big ass in the middle made for some ugly football.
Almiron's final decision is always missing. If he can figure that out he can be a starter, if he can't we need to rotate him out as a sub once we have the players.
He definitely should be a bench player, no doubt there. And if Howe is serious about playing Isak on the outside when Wilson returns, that’s clearly the spot. my preference is simply that if we are going to see wood up top, I would not mi d emphasizing a bit more crossing on the whole.
Great performance today. Was fun to see the team take advantage and get a result. Thought this was cool as well
I would assume so for him to acclimate. But he’s been having a great season and is going to the World Cup so who knows.
Was Kuol a well known entity before you signed him or was one of your scouts on holiday and seen a wunderkid at the park?
Imagine going from first pro contract and Australian league call up to Prem (and UCL…) and the World Cup from June to November in one year when you are 18. they don’t even let you do that in fifa.
Honestly I’m not too sure. There were rumors about it, then he was in Newcastle to sign his pre-contract and went down to London and was in the away end at Fulham. Will be very curious to see if he plays in Qatar, and how his transition to England goes.
