That's a not-so-insignificant thing either, I'd assume this would cover all NIH and NSF funded studies. It was a pain in the ass in undergrad and the bit of grad school I attended when we didn't have a subscription to certain journals and you wanted to read primary research. This is in addition to it being just grotesquely awful and contributing to people's often correct assumption that many academics are ivory-high-tower out of touch types. Aaron Swartz literally committed suicide after being criminally charged with trying to openly publish academic journal articles. Obviously this wouldn't apply to those which were privately or self-funded, but his story is tragic. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aaron_Swartz
does anyone know if the IDR changes will affect graduate loans, or only undergraduate? I'm referring to the 5% rather than 10% of income and the lack of interest accrual if you're making payments. I'm doing PSLF but I certainly wouldn't mind my payments going down each month.
I may have to re-asses my long held opinion of wrestling fans. I really dont want to do this, but ...
I feel like, not betting and keeping your money might be an option. And add bonus- you wouldn’t feel the need to further “fuck” native Americans. I dunno, just a thought.
getting rid of the GOP political mastermind of our lifetime because Trump is having a hissy fit would be such a great come up for our Country
I'm going to bet one way or another. I'd prefer to do it here with comparable lines. If they don't offer that, I'll go elsewhere like I always have. I'm fine with them having a monopoly if they offer competitive lines, but history says they won't if they have a monopoly on it.
And replaced with some qanon adjacent dumbfuck that drinks hydrochloroquine and brandishes a weapon while giving a speech on the morality of life brought into the world by a 10 year old rape victim.
while true, mitch is an awful person who has political savvy none of these mouthbreathers can begin to touch and oh ya, fuck mitch's turkey necked ass
utilities can't really capitalize the cost of things like overhead and maintenance so it's much more profitable to just build new.
Mitch is a fucking cunt who could have rid the world of trump by pushing on impeachment number 2 and chose not to so fuck him if the monster comes for him
fine! I don't care at all how it gets done, but just shrugging about the underlying cause(s) of these issues sucks shit.
journeymen is more like a mix of a person with their bachelor's degree and/or professional certification. they're qualified to work on their own.
I might be giving them too much credit but it seems the whole idea of waiting to do anything close to the election because people have goldfish memory spans might be the smartest thing they've ever done. Sucks waiting for things to happen but doing it all in a big burst over 2 months is pretty fun to watch.
sucks but it's probably smart politically. things move too fast and memories are too short. it's like how we used to get one new meme a year during a super bowl commercial now it's about 3 new ones a day on twitter.
Agree. It's frustrating. There's so much stuff that needed to get done, and that makes it so frustrating. They don't seem to care about anything really, but they'll do work when their political necks are on the line. Forgive debt on day one and tout that for the next two years, along with legal weed, Rx drug prices, defund ACABs, pre-K, child tax credit, etc.
This is a really good question that I hadn’t considered. r/PSLF will probably have someone that can answer that but it seems like it’s too early to have those details. It looks like there’s some confusion if that 5% rule applies to all loans, just undergrad, or if it’s somehow prorated. It’s going to be really complicated because if you’re doing PSLF correctly, all the loans should be consolidated.
Seems like people think the interest part and the changing discretionary income calculation will apply to all, no clue about the 5%. Guess we won't know until they go through the rule making process and create the rule. It would cut my payments for pslf in half so hopefully it applies to consolidated loans.
If GOP Senators replace McConnell with Rick Scott, I'm going to Bill Nelson losing in 2018, may let the Dems win the Senate in 2022 because Scott has been such a horrible chair of the NRSC.
I doubt they would go with Scott. Not really sure who would be next, Cruz or some shitstain like that?
Has to be hard to find someone to properly run an organization from a lot of grifters who only know how to destroy things
Scott is definitely laying the groundwork for a challenge. He has very high opinions of himself. Thune is too close to McConnell, so I don't see them picking him. Cruz has no shot. Nobody likes him.
this is a crazy timeline so all bets are off, but I do not see how Scott would have the votes for that maybe in the House, but not in the Senate
