If this is true (they don’t need to split the pod up to maintain good numbers), then I really wish they would stop doing it. I get absolutely lost in their podcast feed.
I like it personally. I can’t listen to that much so it splits it and I can choose based on the summary of the section. The only thing that’s weird is the big suey hour. Don’t get that really.
Count me in on the please keep breaking it up group. I like that I can skip hours if I want to and, on days that I can start listening early, I can listen to the first pod before the others get posted (rather than having to wait until the show is done)
The dan and friends feed definitely seem to be saturated in content. Point forward DNF Mystery crate Underdogs Montgomery & co. Cinephile Poscast Bball Illuminati Fullcast Cooligans Cinephobe South beach sessions All have had at least one new episode since July 21st.
Dan's take on Deshaun Watson (and really anything involved the NFL / Goodell anymore) is so convoluted I can't even follow what he's actually trying to say
He’s not making the point well but he’s trying to point out a hypocrisy that most people don’t really care about. I think Mike got it when he said he’s disgusted but simply doesn’t care. It was really convoluted though.
I don’t mind the show being broken up into 5 pieces. That’s much better than one 3-4 hour podcast to have to skip through if you don’t want to listen to certain parts. The postgame show does seem like something to boost numbers though. When they first started doing it, it seemed like a behind the scene look into that days show. I remember them talking about pre-show meetings. Now it’s just a random length of continuation of topics from earlier in the show or something unrelated. The big suey if I recall correctly, was a way to continue to give the listeners the hour that got cut by espn. What I don’t like is when they drop non main show podcasts into the main show feed. I thought that’s what the and friends feed was for. To me it seems like a cheap way to get numbers on those other shows from people like me who never listen to anything on the and friends feed and sometimes don’t catch that a non main show is getting auto played.
Dans brain just didn’t know what to do cuz when goodell was handing out punishments Dan didn’t think he should be doing that since according to him, goodell was only handing out punishment as a way to show the nfl cared and to keep people from being disgusted that the league let things like that happen and maybe stop watching. Now he’s not happy with the punishment given so he wants goodell to be more strict but he doesn’t wanna be pro establishment so his brain was going into hyperdrive and he just vomited words
The “Charles Bricker” phone conversation was a bit too much for me. Making Greg think he nearly pushed the guy to suicide just wasn’t the payoff I was hoping for. the compound/cult bit was funny though. “Look outside, andy should be driving by. Tell your wife that you’re leaving”
I’m normally not a fan of the McKay character bits but I actually didn’t mind this one so much. They probably wasn’t a need for that dark stuff though.
It was a pretty obvious fake from the jump. I assumed Greg was in on the bit, but he wasn’t very convincing. I did laugh at McKay breaking though.
People were VERY unhappy with the Fullcast takeover today. I actually don’t like the fullcast and skipped today, but I’m enjoying the Twitter reaction
I guess I’m in the minority since I’m a big fan of both the Fullcast and LeBatard and enjoyed today’s show. My only complaint is that I would’ve liked the shipping container to insert themselves a bit more during the fullcast segments like they did during the Amin/Samson hours. What I enjoy about both shows is that they’re theoretically about sports but often find themselves on wild tangents that have little/nothing to do with cfb/sports. Therefore, “getting the show” should be somewhat more possible than the standard sports radio/podcast listener. I do understand the barriers to entry that both shows have, however. The first time I listened to each I had little knowledge of their inside jokes and was a bit lost.
I listened a bit but without the crew inserting themselves (as you said) then it’s just a different podcast. And in podcast world…that’s how it should be (just different podcast) when you have the choice to listen to one or the other. Today was fine if you simply listened to the actual fullcast. lebatard still is trying to act like a traditional radio show in a podcast medium. Most of the time it’s what makes the show what it is but other times it doesn’t work. You don’t need guest hosts because you have to fill drive time hours on AM radio
I am same. I like both but wanted more shipping container. Specifically, I thought it would have been great to get like Fullcast + heavy hand of Smetty.
At this point I’m assuming nothing happened but people were told to go to twitter just to say why the episode was weird but it’s not actually weird
I feel like witty and cote are primed for a “well they didn’t do anything in the first half and this is more on the ravens blowing it” kinda take.
I know this is random, but Billy Gil talking about buying a Tua jersey reminded me of the gag that never was. When Tannehill got injured and the fins signed Cutler to be the QB for the season, the show was going to have everyone wear custom Kaepernick fins jerseys except Roy, who would be the only Cutler jersey. ESPN killed that one.
I suspect the conversation today would have been wildly different had it been the panthers and baker mayfield involved in this whole thing or any other team outside of the dolphins
It is the LOCAL hour and there was a controversy in the fins game regarding concussion protocol again. I’m also just a homer and annoyed the fins clearly got screwed on Sunday. also the local hour did suck but I understand why they spent another hour on it.
Started listening a few weeks ago, can someone please explain the beeping sound bit during weekend observations with Stugotz? Sounds like random grocery store check out beeps in the background the entire segment. Thanks.
When it started he was writing down notes in real time but just about a single game he was watching. Usually dolphins or jets. The beep sound was just a bullet point that separated each thought. Being Stugotz some thoughts would only be one word so the pace of how he read them sounds like what you hear. that said I think the segment is way past being interesting and I always skip jt
That’s fine. I get it’s appeal. Just been running a bit long for me. much prefer funniest thing from the sports weekend
