Thing is capitalism natural state is inequality and disrepair so you're always having to manage that. Some might call it unsustainable
I’d argue that it won’t affect inflation in anything but the most marginal way, these loans have been frozen for two years it’s not giving anyone extra money.
and the fucking money has already been appropriated! like 15 years ago when people got MBAs because there were no fucking jobs! no one cried about it then, when it was earmarked for the “servicer’s” profit!
Inflation is when not-rich people get their money back from the government. Good economy is when rich people collect poor peoples' money so money is scarcer
Tell all the “Christians” mad about student loan forgiveness that people will be able to tithe more now.
Literally Jesus was against usury too, but it's never stopped Christians from being evil evil hypocrites in the past hundreds of years.
If I didn't get the distinct feeling he thinks weed is bad I would start to talk myself into that he was going to save marijuana legalization for '24.
I would love to be proven wrong here, but I think Biden is just too much of a boomer to even consider weed legalization.
The one consistent thing in Biden’s career is that he shifts whichever way the Democrat wind blows. If it becomes an issue, he’ll go for it.
Not to shit on Lyrtch here but weren't you saying that doing good things for people doesn't actually improve their opinions of you a few months back?
Wouldn’t that poll be more likely based on prices coming down and the recent leg win than student debt relief? Loan forgiveness is probably too recent. Point stands though. Not killing the environment is good for people.
Have to assume this is mostly tied to low unemployment and lower gas prices. But the big legislative win was huge too, imo.
Your daily reminder that American Christians are pound for pound some of the most disgusting and evil humans on the planet
I think there is a pendulum effect as well. The last year has been nonstop negativity since the Afghanistan withdrawal. Now it’s swinging back right at the same time Biden is starting to accomplish some goals and inflation is getting better under control.
Americans are stupid and apply approval to things the president doesn't have as much control over like gas prices. It's very dumb
It’s really incredible how fucking stupid everyone is. Supposed best country on the planet. What a fucking joke
Yeah you go to the gas station to fill up and it's expensive. So you blame the one politician you know by name
It's insane but as a big dark brandon supporter I let a sigh of release when the gas station sign by my office started going down. the crazy high prices just poisoned everything.
Long story short this country’s media sucks and thinks being “fair and balanced” means making Nazis look like viable election candidates
like the stupid fucking stickers people put on the pumps were really affective and probably swayed hundreds of thousands of voters. i hate this place.
Starting to think Nelnet is not working because they are like well fuck this shit we're not making as much money anymore.
the strawman is the oversimplification of explanation. Saying it has no affect on tax payers to answer republicans without further explanation is not entirely correct.
either say "has no effect" or "doesn't affect" also, why are you trying to split hairs on a topic you admit you're not super entangled with in order to parse out extremely bad faith shitposting for republicans
First of all, you are correct. There is a chance this has some inflationary pressure. That chance is small, and there doesnt seem like there's much data to support that. But lets put that aside. You claim it's disingenuous to say tax payers will not be effected by this (tax payers dont fund the federal gov) as if they're the only ones that will be impacted by the inflationary pressures. Non tax payers, those who receive the relief or the public in general will not. As if paying taxes is identifier of who will be effected, when it's not. Does that not sound like a disingenuous framing to you?
the last estimate i saw was loan forgiveness would be like .01% inflationary over a ten year span so completely irrelevant
When you pay taxes it does not go into some government bank account that is later used to pay for things.
My taxes can go towards student loan forgiveness, the plumber’s taxes can go towards another reaper drone — everyone wins (except the Middle East).
Mine got transferred to Mohela because I’m vying for the PSLF program and while I can log on, none of my information is available. Its a clusterfuck.
