This dude is like 30 years old iirc, but whining like the most seasoned boomer. If nothing else it's so amazing to see these pieces of shit sickos cry who have a substack about political math like a nerd who needs a wedgie.
This not fair shit is so cherry picked and absurd. Is your position that every action the federal government takes has to be tailored to specifically benefit you? If so, that's ridiculous. If not, let me point you in the direction of roughly a thousand things our government has done that are substantially more unfair to you than this
Was he this upset when the Republicans gave the rich a tax break? What about when PPP loans were forgiven?
I think a lot of Republicans believe this. Anecdotally, my dad is a conservative. He's very pro-M4A though. Why? Because he'd be able to retire earlier and not have to worry about the cost of health insurance. Or as long as the action punishes minorities, etc. that's acceptable too.
Heard an old fart today tell another old fart it was his daughters fault she was in that position and “those kids knew what they were getting themselves into” and he didn’t want his “tax dollars” going to help them out. Took everything I had not to put his old ass through a locker.
The GOP is attacking people who cooperated with the government so they can afford the cost of living and the entire right is dancing with glee over it.
Yes 17 year old kids are notorious for making intelligent, informed decisions. Not to mention the fact that the conventional wisdom at the time coming FROM ADULTS was that the loans were worth it and a smart investment
i hope she redacts while finger redacting a redacted and then chokes on redacted and the redacted redacted in the redacted.
If that were even slightly true theyd have been paying the principal down up to the time the PPP was forgiven. Otherwise, as "principled people who pay down their debts," there is no way their businesses wouldve been profitable and survived duh free market
Can't you just take the money out and pay the normal taxes you would have paid... Or use it for grad school or whatever? People are dumb.
I assume some portion of it has been used. But unless the daughter is going to a cheap cheap school, $10k is an easy rack up for her Jr and Sr year of college.
He made a choice to have children, and he made a choice deciding they would go without student loans.
Same idiots that are saying "that's not fair" are the ones that say "if you don't like this country, leave".
I’m not certain it would work but an argument I could see potentially being viable to people like Chumbolone s buddy: One of the essential roles of the federal government is to protect Americans from predatory practices, risk, and general danger. When you started paying into your 529 the reality of what it would take to pay for college was a lot different than it is now, and this is an effort to adjust from what has taken place where costs of paying for college for millions of Americans who didn’t have the luxury or understanding of preparing for college is no longer a sustainable model.
My old PCP also tried this but seemed to have scrapped it when there wasn’t much of a response. He’s an older guy and my sense is he saw it as one last money grab opportunity. Funny thing is he went to med school in Italy for practically free but in our very superficial discussions, he (shockingly) was opposed to M4A….needless to say, fuck him, I hope he somehow manages to go broke
no truer words have ever been spoken. anticipate Trump or Dictator DeSantis would go after PSLF with the quickness.
“My grandparents created wealth through home ownership on the Homestead Act, but let me tell you why it’s wrong that other people get benefits that I do not get…”
Someone in his life should patiently explain why it’s a good thing. At the end of the day, if he’s still upset then whatever.
All Chum is doing is Sealioning. He is being disingenuous. Sealioning is a type of trolling or harassment that consists of pursuing people with relentless requests for evidence, often tangential or previously addressed, while maintaining a pretense of civility and sincerity, and feigning ignorance of the subject matter.
Minorities not being oppressed in the voting process* They love to find so many ways not to say this shit. Cowardly mother fuckers
I’m not. In fact I can tell you the exact argument/explanation/rationalization on this board that swayed me from my “feelings” on loan forgiveness being a handout to the advantaged subsidized by the disadvantaged was those that argued “just raise the wealthy’s taxes and they’ll be subsidizing themselves and others” - not worded as well, but the gist of it.
