I say then why wouldn’t you be in favor of this so no one will have to go through that like you? Why wouldn’t you be in favor of reforms that stop this? One of the biggest reasons Americans are garbage can humans is because they’re completely incapable of caring about anyone but themselves. That guy is a piece of shit and I’d tell him that to his fucking face fuck him
The same people would lose their shit if black Americans were rightfully given reparations aka literally back pay for the work their ancestors did. Fuck them, only thing they deserve to be turned into fucking shark chum
The pernicious lie that govt is bad is one of Limbaugh/Fox's gifts to our country that will seemingly live forever. If a law doesn't maintain status quo and let me continue stepping on the neck of someone else, then what good is it?
Fact that anyone would post that as anything but a satirical article shows how dogshit journalism is in this country. fact that she’s not described as a Christian religious fundamentalist in every article also shows how corrupt our media is
Exactly. I was trying to come up with a clever way to essentially say what you did, but your response is succinct and spot on.
He didn’t have to pay interest on the loans he didn’t take. That’s the benefit he got through his hard work and planning.
I spent the first 3 years of my working life spending every single extra dollar my wife and I earned on paying back right at 6 figs in loans whilst having a tiny baby. We made dick for money and lived on a razor’s edge where we could have been devastated if we had a financial emergency. It was incredibly stressful. We paid them off after 3 years and it was an incredible weight off my shoulders. Do you think I’m bitter because someone else gets to feel that relief? No. Because I’m not a selfish piece of fucking garbage.
GI Bill recipient here so no student loan debt. But I'm happy af that this happened for others and honestly wish it was more than $10/20k. Fuck going into debt to receive an education.
My first year of college the hope scholarship in Georgia covered all tuition, fees, and a good bit of my book costs. My final year at UGA I had to take out loans because the hope didn't cover everything after they had risen tuition and costs. It wasn't a lot, and I did pay it off, but I would have loved for someone to come in and tell me "nah, fuck them loans. I got this for you."
This. Lived poor with my wife’s debt for the first 5 years of our relationship. We’re out from under it now but I consider the fact that we were able to pay it down a point of privilege, even with me working on a humble nonprofit salary during that time. I hate that other people have to go through that, and most in a worse situation. I am finding so much joy in stories from people whose lives will change materially without the crushing weight of debt. I just can’t imagine being upset by it.
Hope and pell covered me in undergrad. Needed loans to cover cost of living during law school. Even a fairly small amount can feel suffocating
Current me looks back at the amount and payments and thinks "that was nothing" but me in my mid 20s working at a restaurant was panicking. I didn't pay it off until I was a few years and 1 deployment deep in a 6 year enlistment.
Matty Y is honestly just the real life nytpitchbot. Just the brokennest of pundit brains that you'll ever see.
Also fucked over the small mom and pop type places that were actually affected by the pandemic but couldn't exactly afford to hire someone to get the PPP application stuff done asap perfectly.
what can I say. I work from home and have to be productive so I watch a lot of porn. Don’t judge me monkey.
I'd love to know your thoughts on what proper reparations would look like. Free college is non-negotiable as the min. Tax-free income? I don't know what else you'd like to see. A monthly stipend? I'm all for it but you have strong opinions I almost always agree with or get convinced by. I don't recall ever reading what you think should be or is fair. Hanging up and listening
I'm dumb. I'm periodically online and semi-literate and ashamed I'm not getting the wildly popular incision
I’m assuming he got way more than $10k tax-free on his invested 529 plan. That’s the advantage he got by saving as opposed to taking out a loan.
