So now they have triangle and triple sticks. That’s about $60 million in career earnings for three combined wins. This isn’t rocket surgery which guys are choosing to go. Niemann hurts though.
Yea, setting aside who is funding this league, folks like Tringale make perfect sense. Did he ever win on tour? Idk why it makes sense for LIV though, he doesn’t bring anything to their tour. Was he part of some package to lure Tiger? Folks like Cam Smith make no sense to me. They’re risking their legacy to make $300m vs $100m over the next decade. Like when is enough, enough? He must be damn confident the majors aren’t going to keep him out.
First off, there is a massive difference between 100 and 300m and for a guy whose golf career/peak could last 2 years or 20, capitalizing on that difference when it’s available to you isn’t just all greed. If you’ve ever listened to Cam I’m not sure you’d call him greedy or egotistical. It’s just a once in a lifetime handout. Second, Cam Smith outside of Scottie and Rory probably has the least to lose golf wise of any player. He’s exempted to the majors for five years. He’s won a Players and a British already. I think he’s basically sacrificing zero from a golf perspective. All that said, it sucks to see him go. He’s the first that’s like well fuck, that hurts the product. His putting was one of the best weapons on tour.
A guy from Australia isn't going to have any loyalty to the PGA tour. And I'm sure Norman is promising some kind of Australian leg to LIV. It's a bummer but losing someone like Cam Young would be much more worrisome.
Cam’s offer was only rumored to be $100mil before the British Open. It may have gone up but it didn’t triple.
tringale has never won. And I think I saw he has the current record for most career money without a win
I have no idea how you make an offer to a guy like Cam Young. They arent going to give him Smith or Phil money and anything less than that isn't more than he can make on tour. I'd love to know what Neiman's offer is that makes him give up future tour earnings.
Cam Smith is disappointing after he won the Players and basically said he didn't care about the money and already had enough
He's almost Koepka like in that he doesn't necessarily love to play golf. During the Open, radio guys were saying he practices and plays a lot less than most other guys. He spends a few hours on golf in the morning then goes fishing or plays video games. He could legitimately like the lesser schedule.
He'll play at least 18 events next year (14 LIV + majors). Is that much different than he would've played on the PGA Tour?
Supposed to be immaculate. Friends are playing first rounds on Wednesday. Was looking at the mid-am scores from Landmand and three guys went into the triple digits. @1 I’m curious what your buddy thought?
He played 18 this year so no, I guess not. 14 less rounds and 14 weeks where playing well doesn't matter.
His texts were..."beast. But fun". I then asked how it compares to Prairie Club - Dunes since that's what I have envisioned they were going for something similar too. He said, "harder than Dunes" and "we had a 265 yd par 3 on a 25,000 sq ft green and a 645 yd par 5". Also said, "some greens the ball would run out 100 ft or more" Obviously a lot of that was set up related and ymmv depending on what tees are played. Then sent these...
Owgr top ten at the end of the tour season. A couple takeaways for me. Rahm and Morikawa obviously had disappointing years. Cantlay still doesn’t seem like the fourth best player in the world. Zalatoris in the top ten is pretty cool. Hope he bounces back. TOP 10 1 SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER 2 CAMERON SMITH 3 RORY MCILROY 4 PATRICK CANTLAY 5 XANDER SCHAUFFELE 6 JON RAHM 7JUSTIN THOMAS 8 COLLIN MORIKAWA 9 WILL ZALATORIS 10 MATT FITZPATRICK
yep, just like Charles Howell III... guys that make a really good living every year that either haven't won or won a very long time ago. That is the reason I get their moves. I question more what LIV has to gain from these guys. Even guys like Brooks and Johnson seemed to be on the downside of their careers with little interest in playing regularly. Cam Smith is by far the one that hurts the most and so does Nieman.
He did admit the practicing more before the British. Said he spent less time with friends and more time practicing. Sure he’s back to his half days now, lol.
Looking at the GSE website, who NLU indicated a catalyst for a lot of the moves to LIV, their biggest clients still on tour are Sam Burns, Doug Ghim, and Johnny Vegas.
I love how their stupid nicknames have worked their way into the sports nomenclature. Nobilo using the Town Crier on Billy Ho being another
Johnny Vegas had Golf Saudi International or whatever the company was on his bag at one point so I'm shocked he hasn't jumped yet maybe LIV doesn't want to pay for Doug Ghim's dad, the ultimate package deal
nothing recent I don’t think. But his name was always brought up in that initial wave edit : he’s said he’s staying https://golf.com/news/best-way-pga-tour-move-forward-liv-lawsuits/?amp=1
Still shopping golf bags and the shoulder strap tore from the cylinder on my current shitty ancient Nike bag walking up the range yesterday, so its go time. Current rankings 1a - Stitch 1b - Linksmaster (see photo) 2 - Sun Mountain 3 - Jones 4 - Vessel 5 - Ping Hoofer Also, anyone know if they still make these https://www.pebblehurst.com/product...rue&sa=false&sbp=false&q=false&category_id=10
They're also certainly making promises that their players will be able to play in majors and get OGWR points very soon and that they'll eventually have more elite players than the PGA Tour. They're baseless promises, of course.
Read about that earlier today. Dude seems like a real pos. Not related to that storyline at all but that course is a cool course in between Lincoln and Omaha but I can't think of one that would be more of a bitch to walk. There is maybe 1 or 2 holes I can think of that don't have extreme elevation changes and most tees are a long way from the previous green. Plus it's like a sauna because it's on a river but yet still in like a forest of trees so there's zero wind relief.
That’s awesome, I’m excited for you. I’m trying to decide if I want to get a hotel room for landmand, go up the night before since it’s an 0800 tee time.
Thank you I completely forgot to finish the story. Quarry is a fun course, but 1 nailed it not a great walk. I got an email a weak before asking to volunteer for the event but I worked most of the nights so passed.
Playing Chattahoochee golf club in Gainesville, GA this weekend. My mom has a house on the lake so my brother have played it a few times a year for a while now. It's a fun track and pretty good bang for your buck for a muni.
