teams went to a lot of dumb jerseys in the 2000s. look all over the NBA and NHL. to use that as a point suggesting the prior jerseys were bad if some smooth brained nonsense.
That jersey stinks. If they’re going back to them ironically because they know they stink and they find it cool that they stink (ala the Kings ‘Burger King’ jerseys), I’m all for it. If they’re going back to them because they actually find them attractive, woof.
Agree with this. Took them awhile to figure out (ref: banana slug era) but they have it nailed now. No need to go back to red and black just for nostalgia.
Benning being gone + this contract/Mikheyev's contract reinforces the idea to me that the Canucks' owner just won't let them rebuild. They're gonna be mediocre until the end of time
That’s like the Wizards and Beal. Not only are we gonna massively overpay you, we’re gonna make you impossible to ever trade
Not sure how I feel about that. It's almost the exact same deal/situation that Hughes got in that they're gambling that he's going to explode this year, but unlike Hughes, Stutzle doesn't have the underlying numbers to suggest that it's a matter of time.
One National TV game for the reigning presidents trophy winners and it’s the first week of the season. Nice job NHL.
Have fun. When I went in 99 I got Gordie Howes autograph, met Doc Emerick, and busted my ass while walking with the hot blonde that hosted Cool Shots I think it was called. It was some weekly highlight show back in the day, she was nice helping an embarrassed MJH up.
With a deal like this, the Rangers need to basically pray Lafreniere and Miller get injured for most of the season and sign cheap bridge deals.
Love that we have our core locked up long term and all at reasonable dollar amounts. Zub is next and then hopefully Debrincat next summer.
1. Carolina 2. Rangers 3. Pittsburgh 4. New Jersey- Kind of going out on a limb, but I think Marino was a great addition and Palat will help them in the short term. Young core another year older. Goaltending problems remain, but maybe not the worst in the league again. ------------------------- 5. Washington 6. Columbus 7. NYI 8. Philly 1. Florida 2. Tampa 3. Toronto 4. Ottawa- This was tough for me. I think Boston at full strength is better than Ottawa, but it looks like Marchand is going to be out for quite a while. (And their bottom 6 is just not good) -------------------------- 5. Boston 6. Detroit 7. Buffalo 8. Montreal 1. Colorado 2. Minnesota 3. STL 4. Nashville ----------------- 5. Winnipeg 6. Dallas 7. Chicago 8. Arizona 1. Calgary 2. Edmonton 3. Vegas 4. LA ------------------- 5. Vancouver 6. Seattle 7. SJ 8. Anaheim Hart- McDavid Calder- Beniers Vezina- Vasy Champs: Carolina
#Detroit Red Wings How would you feel about offer sheeting Jason Robertson at 9x8? (2 firsts, a second, and a third)
The eight year deals are smart business for teams. Surprised so many players are jumping on those deals though.
I get that but it Bill Daly just said a few weeks ago the projections show a significant increase in the Cap come 2024. It might all be bullshit, but I doubt it doesn’t go up quite a bit in the next few years.
It was mostly in jest. I hope it does or my favorite team is in deep doo doo. Real answer - it's hard to walk away from that guaranteed money in a sport where people get injured all the time.
I would have thought the deal MacKinnon is on right now would have been a warning sign. Also, Frank Seravalli said on his podcast that McKinnon is getting between 13-15 mil AAV on his new deal.
Yeah, most of these 8 year deals lately are being offered to young guys either coming off ELC's or low AAV/Term deals. It's really hard to say no to an amount of money that guarantees you're set for life regardless of what happens.
Yeah I get it. But as I said above, MacKinnon could be in year two of a 13 mil deal right now if he didn’t sign long term. Gambling on yourself isn’t always a bad thing.
Oh, I'm not disagreeing. Bridge deals almost never pay off for the team in the long term unless it's something you have to do in a cap crunch. If you're a young, elite player, betting on yourself will almost always lead to more money. (I said as much in the Devils/Bratt situation in that he probably explodes this year and then they're going to have to give him 9 next year) Just thinking of the psychology when it comes to a lot of players and money. It's really rare, but I think a lot of players in the back of their minds are thinking, "If I get hurt and I end up leaving tens of millions on the table I'll never forgive myself."
