I dont remember the specifics of the book but remember being frustrated with it. I think an unsatisfying ending. But i think it could be a good movie. Looks like they did a good job w casting.
That was my recollection as well. Definitely didn’t stick out in my memory. Completely forgot about it until I saw the trailor.
Spoiler I mean I think that's whole point about people doing things that are stupid because they are trying to be polite and not offend, the whole thing was a satire about over respecting social norms
Spoiler: SPOILER "I get that but the ending of him rushing out and apparently not mentioning the fact that they were serial killers, and her calling them was a bit much.
Just watched it and I think it was kinda weak. Spoiler the way they didn’t fight back at just wasn’t believable to me. Hey get naked “okay” did they actually call the killers or did he just say they did. Was it the wife that called them not knowing they were SK?
thought Speak No Evil was just alright I hate to nitpick for plot holes but Spoiler unless they are selling the kids, that many polaroids would mean they've been doing this for like 50 years which wouldn't really check out would actually prefer it if that was their gig and not (at least what I assume) keeping them for themselves and killing them once they realize they wont attach to them
I don’t think that’s a plot hole. I just think they have a high turnover rate. The movies time frame is a couple months so if that’s the average I could see having that many. If any of that should be in a spoiler I will fix this post.
Spoiler my thought is it would take awhile to get the kid to not just go crazy and actually be obedient but that's looking into it a bit deeper than I probably should be doing but it's just something I bumped into that I didnt care for
Does Fall qualify as a horror movie? Gotta be damn close - it was pretty hard to watch at times & I'm not normally bothered by heights.
Yeah, I was starting to get squirmy and playing with my phone to distract from what was on screen. I look forward to watching it again on DVD now that I know what happens.
I’ve started collecting horror VHS for the last couple of years. I need to get a vintage box TV to watch them on. It’s perfect for this time of year.
I get the good stuff on Blu Ray or Steelbook - there are also some movies I get that aren't Blu Ray worthy like Venom or the recent Halloween series.
Anyone have Shudder? I got it to watch vhs 94, and have a free trial for a month (Used promo code: HORRORHOUND). Any other must watch stuff on there?
It’s my favorite streaming service given the cost. All of the Joe Bob episodes are fun and most of the documentary stuff is quite good. I liked The Core too which is like a talk show thing. History of horror is also solid.
Tons of stuff: the aforementioned Joe Bob episodes, tons of Giallo and Gothic/Folk horror, the very underrated Rillington Place miniseries, great 80s camp slashers, exclusive horror documentaries and fun shit like the 101 scariest film moments, etc etc
Crystal Lake Memories and it's nearly 7 hour runtime is my go to background tv this time of year. Still amazed at how good it is at that ridiculous length.
Currently enjoying an 11.5% maple pecan praline imperial stout at the brewery across the street. Also have a nice sativa to go with. Wife already freaked out. Going to be a great night.
Gonna be there in two weeks for the Salem Night Faire; We’re going to Boston, parts of Maine, New Hampshire, Sleepy Hollow, Lizzy Bordens house etc for a full NE Halloween vacation/road trip. Already picked out some films to watch: The Witch, The Lighthouse, Salem’s Lot, Sleepy Hollow, House of the Devil, The Haunting, Re-Animator…but looking for more
My ops manager just did a Salem trip, he really enjoyed it. I’ll be curious what you guys think. I’ve never given it consideration until recently.,
This will be my second time but last time I went was over 5 years ago and it was early September or the very end of August so we spent most of our time in Boston. Stayed one night in Salem and to say it was a boring town in the “off season” might be an understatement. But my wife and I like to go out and see the night life of cities we visit, especially then, and Salem had zero. Everything shut down at like 9 pm and all the bars had been pushed outside of the city to cater to the tourist families. But there was an amazing horror wax museum there that was worth the ferry ride from Boston alone. So we opted not to stay there at all this time, we’re just gonna go for the day.
Jealous of the Sleepy Hollow trip. I really want to play the golf course there and spend a ton at the pro shop.
I spent about 3 hrs there when I was travelling around the US a couple months ago & really liked the place. Count Orlok's Nightmare Gallery is the best horror movie gallery I've seen - just a shame they don't let you take photos of the exhibits.
