Anyone have any ideas for something to do today with two kids? We’ve done aquarium a bunch, children's museum last month, it’s too damn hot and rainy for outside.
How about one of those indoor trampoline places? There is Airheads on Linebaugh and Altitude on Hillsbrough before Dale Mabry.
thought about that. Ended up sending them to my parents for the day and wife and I are going to eat lunch and day drink lmbo
Anyone ever been to Pickford's Sundries for breakfast/lunch/brunch? Corner of Hillsborough and Armenia. Popped up when I was mapping my route to pick my daughter from camp at Zoo Tampa. Reviews are positive, menu looks good, vibe looks nostalgic.
yes. They used to have a shop and coffee counter across Florida ave from me. We went right after they opened pickfords probably would have been back a few times over the years, but it’s not worth the drive compared to what I can get closer (not that it’s far away) edit - yea it’s worth a stop to check out and try
I hear the Church of Scientology headquarters has an excellent buffet. But seriously, where in Clearwater are you staying? Will you have a car?
I guess it's not Clearwater proper but near 142nd Ave N and 66th St N is where I'll be working. I haven't booked a hotel yet, but will have a car. I can be more specific if you wanna shoot me a PM.
Yes. Dunedin brewery and a few others in that area. Depends what you like there’s one in safety harbor as well, but i cannot remember the name
Tarpon Nole is right. Your best bet for both good beer and good food in proximity to where you’ll be is Dunedin. There are a bunch of restaurants on Main Street, but Casa Tina is tits Mexican. It’s also a 5 minute walk from Dunedin Brewery.
Yes they are. Woodwright (great lagers) is between them and Dunedin brewing. Cunei and house of beer brewing are also right there and there’s a couple others in Dunedin as well. safety harbor has Crooked Thumb and Troubled Waters.
Well looks like I’m staying at the Holiday Inn in Indian Rocks right by Jake’s Cantina. Not really my choice… but that’s where I’m ending up. I’ve been to Indian rocks ones before, liked the area but didn’t venture out much from the condo complex.
If you want a cool, unique experience, go have a drink or two at Mahuffer’s. https://mahuffers.business.site/
Finally went to Olivia last night. One of the best meals I’ve had start to finish in Tampa. The crudo and coccoli fritto apps were perfection.
Using a credit next weekend at the aloft in downtown Sarasota for a kids free weekend. Any tips on places to eat and drink? Place to watch fsu game next Saturday night?
indigenous is the best restaurant, but they only have beer and wine. Other good restaurants include owens fish camp (beer and wine too), baker and wife, napule, shore diner, Darwin’s, and Selva. Main Street has some good bars but I usually end up at state street or cask and ale. If you like breweries, I’ll plug my buddies at calusa. for the game, I think there is a watch party at gecko’s off Clark road, but any sports bar should have it on. if you have any specific questions, happy to answer them.
was hoping to not have to drive. Indigenous looks intriguing and is walking distance I’ve been to calusa brewery before
How are the local feeling about this hurricane hitting Tampa vs going farther north? I and 9 others are heading to Tampa on Friday for my 40th and the Chiefs / Bucs game. We've had a great weekend planned for months that is on its lifeline (boat on Saturday, golf on Sunday morning, tailgating/game Sunday night with a real nice AirBnB rented). The NFL is debating moving the game but it seems like if damage is minimal, there shouldn't be a need to move a Sunday night game when the hurricane will arrive on Wednesday morning. But again, I've only lived in Kansas and Illinois so far, far from an expert on this type of stuff. I do feel if we make the game, our golfing and boating is not going to happen.
It's been 100 years since Tampa was directly hit and I have lived here most of my life. We've been lucky but this one seems to have the best chance of hitting us. Flooding is the main concern due to the amount of rain and how slow it is creeping along. I could see the game being moved if power was out and a lot of standing water. Won't really know until Thursday. Sucks to hear about your weekend.
Woof. I’m over in Sunset Park. They’re recently redone all the pipes for flooding so hopefully that helps. The east side of my street floods more. Praying to the gods. Have 40 sand bags and bought polyurethane foam for my doors.
Unless the game gets moved, I think the trip is salvageable. Boat and golf outings may still be on the table depending on impact. But if not, breweries/bars and strip clubs will be open.
