I think it's basically finding a way to make it the "real" single season HR record without explicitly saying that which is kinda lame tbh. Nobody cares about the AL record except as a way of saying "non-steroids" without saying it. Personally, I don't see why people can't acknowledge two things to be true without invalidating the other. Bonds is the single season HR record holder until someone bests him. Judge is the first player that hasn't been credibly accused of using PEDs to match Maris.
people breaking AL/NL records has always mattered at least a little bit. I think the fact that Judge is on the Yankees definitely gets it more attention than if it was someone on a team with a smaller fanbase.
Any team HR record is a big deal, passing Maris who has had movies made about him is an even bigger deal. But people hate the Yankees so they can't appreciate history, sad.
i hate the yankees but am man enough to admit that passing maris (and maybe winning a triple crown) is a BFD and am rooting for the young man
If they are in the HoF, then they have to have your team's logo on their plaque. I did this to reduce overlap, so Pedro is a BoSock and Randy is a D-Back. Scherzer and Lee can definitely be Nats since neither are in the HoF yet.
Assumed he had 1 season with them, but checked BR. Nats would have to use.... Oof. I'm not sure... Scherzer and Strasburg for sure though.
thank you, I thought I was ruining the joke by being too unsubtle when I bolded Clemens and Verlander as Astros but Cliff Lee would have legitimately made it if Omar Minaya was not a complete dipshit

I really don’t want to say the Dodgers. But I gotta say the Dodgers.”
minute maid is such an intimidating atmosphere that the astros have lost two of the last three world series there to the visiting team
Yankee Stadium being the most intimidating atmosphere by a wide margin is wild to me bc it's nothing close to the old stadium. At least it doesn't appear that way on TV, haven't been to a postseason game there.
there really is no such thing as an intimidating home field in mlb at this point. the main advantage of being at home is just regular sleep schedules i think
He doesnt want ESPN to cut into college football games to show it. As someone who is a big baseball fan and interested in his chase, I found it a little annoying. If youre watching a broadcast of a baseball game, I get cutting in. If youre not watching baseball, I get why people dont like it.
The Phillies getting season swept by the cubs while barely holding onto their wild card spot would be a tough look
your only two posts in well over 3 months in this thread are “hey guys look how much this impressive thing sucks!” thanks as always dtx your contributions are truly invaluable. what would we do without your constant whining and negativity and crying about literally everything!
may just have to put a curse on the Rangers next year just like I did with the Royals and Angels this year. I will ponder it in the offeseaon
Been to playoff games at 10 stadiums, including World Series games at both Yankee Stadiums. Old Yankee is #1. New Yankee is not top 5
I disagree, Toronto really rattled pitchers a few years back. A few other cases as well. Teams with long droughts tend to be vocal
everything sucks wahhhhh see ya again end of october when you’re crying about some moral panic about whoever wins the WS
again, confused by this narrative. no one has to celebrate Urias. But confused as to why the immediate reaction is to say he "beats the shit out of women" based on a singular incident where it is alleged he pushed a woman down in a parking lot. No one is saying he didn't deserve to be punished. But words seem important.
no i enjoy seeing and calling out your constant stupidity. see ya in a couple weeks with your next bitch session about something
