The crappy modem that Google used. My p6p has so much trouble getting a good signal or actually staying connected to the internet. I've almost thrown it out the window a million times. https://9to5google.com/2021/11/17/pixel-6-modem-analysis/
Seems it's not just me that's having a much better experience with the new modem in the p7p. https://www.androidauthority.com/google-pixel-7-connectivity-reception-issues-3220800/
Just bought one last night on a whim. My p6p has never been able to get a signal in the ground floor of my apt building but the p7p does.
Yeah once I remembered that the p7p had an upgraded modem and that it was only gonna cost me $8 extra a month to try it out it was an easy call.
You all are ruining my life. I talked myself out of the P7P. My P6P hasn't been bad so I think I'm ok holding out.
If you've missed the $200 Google store credit deal you're committed to waiting for the 8 or that's what I tell myself
really really fast. my s21 often had app stutters and input lag. screen is super crisp and i'm running the smallest font size and expanded app grid. finger print scanner is the best i've used in multiple phones. s21 ultra finger print scanner never worked well enough to keep turned on. only taken one photo but it's slick so far
Holy shit this woman I married has an elite ability to shatter screens, even with a case and a screen protector. What's the best mitigation for that? I assume a screen protector and a case with more shock absorption? I think she's normally been using a single layer tpu case
Get a case with a raised lip around the screen. I've dropped my P6P face down on concrete at least 10 times and I don't even panic when it happens anymore. After that, back to a flip phone.
Do you happen to have a link to what you use? I was about to buy her one of those otterbox bricks, but that's probably a better first step
I think something like a Spigen Tough Armor would work for her. I have it on my Pixel 6 and it's a great case. Does add a bit of weight though. Spigen Tough Armor Designed for Pixel 7 Pro Case (2022) - Metal Slate https://a.co/d/b4KaRyU
What's yalls favorite case? I was thinking of getting a mous one, they're the ones that google let them throw a phone off the top of the google headquarters and it survived. It has a built in magnet for improved wireless charging through the case, only downside is its like 50 bucks but whatever. So I may get roasted for this but I love having my little wallet case (currently have the spigen one that holds three cards on the back) but one of my credit cards is metal and blocks the charging. So I was thinking with the Mous being magsafe compatible I can use a magnet card wallet and was thinking about getting this absolute unit. Anyone have any suggestions, thoughts or general disdain?
I always just use some cheap bullshit like this. Have dropped phones a few times with them, but no cracks so far. I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Ned's wife finds my phone and throws it into a woodchipper on accident, though
I'm getting this case but that's primarily because of its bike mount integration. https://www.peakdesign.com/collections/mobile/products/everyday-case-pixel
I've had this on my last three phones and dropped them an incredible amount and not broken a screen yet. Spigen Rugged Armor Designed for Pixel 7 Pro Case (2022) - Matte Black https://a.co/d/bjyJ3ui
My battery life has not been the best but it did that with the 6 pro when I first had it as well, I assume its the adaptive battery learning and customizing. Also I havent noticed a big jump on the modem.
My s22 Ultra lost all cell signal on Monday. It's a brick when not on wifi. Spent days with Verizon trying to deal with it, finally got a new phone today and transferred everything over. Now this one doesn't work either. Guess I'll spend another hour with Verizon, I assume it's an issue on their end.
Good golly miss molly the fingerprint scanner on the p7 is dreadful with a screen protector. Won't even work with high sensitivity
I have little monsters who try to seek and destroy anything electronic. Don't really care about scratches, but do the tempered glass ones give any shatter or crack protection? I'll ditch it if not
My tempered glass screen protector prevented my phone from being destroyed when it got closed up in my tailgate and has saved the screen when falling on rocks on hikes. Incredibly valuable
I've found if your fingertip is dry it won't well at all. A little moisture on your fingertip helps tremendously. Also you can go into the settings, search for sensitivity, turn that on and the fingerprint scanner should work a little better.
for fingerprints - google it and there will be some tips to improve the experience. the main one is re-add your primary finger over and over.
I work in a pretty harsh environment. I've dropped my P6P face down on concrete, face down across steel beams, dropped it from 5-8 ft, etc. Surface scratches but nothing visible while the screen is on.
