I know the coaching staff didn't want to start Ridder with the prospect of winning the division but at this point in the season, you are who you are, everyone in the division is garbage so winning it isn't some fantastic feat, so just go ahead and see what he can do.

Mariota has regressed so much already in the past couple of weeks. The ONLY thing I can imagine holding the staff back from trotting Ridder out there is that this O-Line is so beat up that he would be thrown to the wolves.

 

Something about Pitts brings out the absolute worst in Mariota. He only looks decent throwing to Zaccheus

I'd like to see Ridder, but the O-Line last night would have gotten him killed as well. Carolina blitzed on that last drive and sacked Mariota in maybe one second, just absolute dog shit play by the line.

I feel like "not completely on him" is a weird take. Are there people out there that DO think his season is his fault? Not the QB and overall scheme and coaching?

 

Not completely his fault but he does seem to struggle to get separation. Which makes the throw need to be more accurate.

 

Yeah he's been one of the worst pass catchers to create speration BUT he has gotten better. ESPN had him at 2.11 yards of separation which was ranked 138 in the league in September. I just looked at NFL Next Gen Stats and he is up to 2.9 yards which is equal to Kelce, Higgins and CeeDee.
