I'll still have a balance if it actually goes through but it would be nice to wipe out most of it. I'm not holding out a lot of hope that it actually happens though. Too much history of Dems being cucks.
I think people would respect him more if they called for the vote, he pulls a gun on them and tells them to vote to sign the fucking legislation. Of course that would be scary precedent
And “among other groups” diffuses the specific Nazism. It’s like the classic “I’m not racist, I hate all races equally.”
he should have picked someone better. Dropping her now is the last thing he should do. I can’t believe that’s even an honest argument anyone would make.
Lines to vote long as fuck in metro Atlanta for the runoff. I'm in Gwinnett and haven't seen the park near me (there's like seven early voting locations in the county) this crowded before.
Dropping Kamala would look really bad. Idk what other role she'd like but getting her that and opening up VP for someone that could run for Potus in 2028 would be ideal.
The Atlanta metro counties are offering Saturday voting because they won their lawsuit and I think more of exurb and rural counties aren't. That alone should help at least some.
Just flat dropping the first woman and person of color VP would be a bad look. Not sure how it can argued it wouldn't. Now if sometime mid 2024 a new role comes open and she comes out and says she wants to do that rather than be VP and Biden picks a new running mate, I think everyone would be cool with that. No clue what that role could be but her background gives a lot of options.
In my lifetime Dan Quayle and Mike Pence have been Veeps so save me with the Veep mattering. Dropping a WOC for a white woman would be a great look and should totes happen. Edited to add sarcasm font for the portion of the post that is sarcasm.
Bush and Biden were also VP's. The role itself doesn't matter, obviously unless Potus dies, but the national stage can be a stepping stone to be Potus. I agree dropping her would look bad but it'd be ideal to get someone in the role that could run in 2028 and Kamala isn't that. It's not worth the blowback if they can't find another role for her to choose though.
my reply was to dropping a WOC for a white woman. I’ve never been a Harris fan. But, can’t believe there are some that think that would be a good idea. If Biden losses it won’t have shit to do with Harris being part of the ticket anymore than Bush’s or Trump’s veeps did.
These are bananas numbers for metro Atlanta (DeKalb, Fulton, Gwinnett). Maybe the Dems shot their wad today, but you still have to like this.
Both of these things can be true This is the answer. You can’t use Kamala to get the black women vote in 20 then move on from her in 24. Do you think there won’t be pushback? She will be the VP choice in 24 and they’ll need to find someone for 28.
Stacy Abrams running miles behind Warnock in statewide Georgia elections seems to indicate that skin color alone isn't worth much these days Which states/regions in particular do you think Kamala plays better than Whitmer in 2024?
voted today. Took me 40 minutes. And thats after the 1st polling site had too long of a line. wish this election wasnt 3 weeks just to ensure decent turnout.
First and foremost I want to make it clear I’m not a Harris fan therefore I’m not attempting to defend her. Like I said maybe (probably) Biden should have picked someone else as a running mate in 20. I can’t remember when the last time a veep was dropped when the potus was running for reelection. As for Abrams everyone says she ran a horrible campaign and was a running a sole campaign. That’s not exactly the case here so imo is not a good analogy. While generally I don’t think veep matters when people are voting, dropping Harris for a white woman might make a ton of WOC feel betrayed. As someone who has a ton of WOC in his life I know it was a big deal to have her on the ticket. So doing something so unusual (dropping her as a running mate) could backfire in a big way. Hope that makes sense.
Agree on the importance of equitable representation's role in making our society better. I just don't know who Kamala is turning out in 2024 that Gretchen wouldn't. While I could easily see Gretchen making a crucial difference in the Midwest
