Knowing Fickell was actually a realistic option is very interesting. You wonder what kind of push we made for him.
Was thinking Wisconsin fans will hate Fickell, citing that he's never once been to Flambeau County, but then I remembered Wisconsin fans are just blissfully drunk and stupid and nothing matters
Broadly speaking, I really don’t think the average fan realizes the economic impact of the new B1G TV contract. It completely changes the game when it comes to coaching hires, especially.
I will say Fickell and Wisconsin do seem like an odd match, considering the success Wisconsin has had with a power run based offense. It will be interesting to see how that goes.
this is exactly what is going on. Fick also doesn’t want left behind in the dying big 12 as the SEC and B1G pull away.
This sucks because it’s good (theoretically) for Wisky. But you know who is having a BADDDD week? Iowa. Iowa has a Brian Ferentz problem and they just got beat by a terrible Nebraska team to not make the B1G title game. That makes me happy.
Iowa has to be feeling absolutely terrible, it’s fantastic. Our team is terrible and we managed to pull a win out of our asses to finally beat them AND spoil their cakewalk to the title game. Really is pretty funny they let that happen.
Knowing Fickell possibly chose Wisconsin over Nebraska is quite depressing. Hopefully that’s not what happened.
Think it was more a "you can have Rhule now or take a chance at Fickell later" type of thing. Birds in hands vs b*shes and whatnot
Hopefully Wisconsin fans are as dumb as inbred Huskers and keep a very skeptical eye on Fickell because they didn’t hire one of their own. I’d take him over Rhule but it’s close. Either way, I’m about as happy as reasonably could be expected.
Elijah Robinson Marcus Satterfield Jeff Nixon Fran Brown Phil Snow Geoff Collins Glenn Thomas Evan Cooper Jake Peetz are all names 247 said have connections and would be ones to keep an eye on
Rhule> luke pickle is nice but his stint at OSU needs to be graded on a curve and won’t have tOSU sloppy seconds to choose from. F Wiscy and Iowa.
Terrence Knighton could also be on the move, is currently the DL coach for the Panthers, which would mean no Robinson more than likely.
E-friends, I think Mickey is one of the best assistant coaches we’ve had in a minute. I also think our fan base grossly exaggerated how good he is. Thanks, Wayne
15 months ago the majority of our fanbase likely didn't even know Mickey was coaching. now, he's apparently the entire key to the success of our program.
No offense, but it would be an awful career move to go from DC under Kirby to DC at Nebraska right now.
Nope, we'd match anything financially and he was Kirby's first hire and has been setting him up to be the next big time coach. He's not going anywhere to be a DC (Bama is probably the only team that could make a real run), he already does most of it here.
Kirby stayed with Saban until he got the UGA job. Lanning stayed with Kirby until he got the Oregon job. I’d be legitimately shocked if Schu left for a coordinator position anywhere.
I'd rather you didn't, but there's at least some logic to that one with the Rhule connection at Temple. So maybe?
