Most painful year in probably a decade outside of 2016 and one hell of a roller coaster. Going 0-2 and having Pyne looked like he had never touched a football before in the first quarter of Cal after opening the season in the top 5 made halftime of Cal about as low as I can remember feeling as an ND fan. To turn it around and go 8-2 from that moment with a big win over Clemson and a couple other road games where we looked legitimately good was pretty solid, though. I'm not claiming this is a good year by any means but if we all were told we'd have 10.25 games of Pyne this year, I'm not sure anyone would have thought we'd go 8-4. This year will almost have to be considered "Incomplete" until we see what moves we make in the off-season. Quite apparent what we need, now we need to go and do it. Will be a brutal schedule next year (way too early to look but I assume USC, Clemson, and OSU will all be top 5 and USC - gulp - might be pre-season #1 or #2 if they make the playoffs) but the expectations should be 10-2 and a NYD Bowl game next year given the upgrade at QB and talent we retain.
Seems like basically any g5 above average starter is out along with any p5 underclassman who doesn’t see a path to playing next year. Pretty wild
I am convinced that some ga has a mf voice modifier. You hear this from every single recruit. On playing for head coach Marcus Freeman “Coach Freeman is awesome. I’ve been talking to him a bunch. Probably every other day I was talking on the phone with him. The relationship we’ve built is great. He’s awesome.”
“I know many were disappointed about Tommy Rees’ insistence on not hitting the Transfer Portal this off-season, but I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt whoever wins this quarterback battle is going to have a huge year for the Irish.”
I think you guys are mistaking the message here: 1) they are saying basically jfc Rees managed to do this with Pyne, give him a break 2) Pyne deserves a P5 transfer opportunity so they are hyping him up cuz he’s probably legitimately a good person Pyne is leaving after the Bowl, he has his degree
I think that’s right. But we are running out of excuses for Rees. First it was the oline and wr coaches now it’s the qb. What will it be next year? Mf not wanting to open up the offense to save the defense?
Peloquin with some interesting Twitter follows lately… Safety FCS All American from Marist College Kent State WR Oh and Devin Leary’s dad.
Yes we need better slueths on twitter. Michigan has like 10 guys who track the entire football departments follows.
We had a historically "good" offense over the last 6 weeks, Rees is 100% safe unless he wants out, his buddies firing off propaganda is to be expected.
Nd finished with the second to last ranking in red zone defense As far as td percentage. Talk about shitting the bed on something they touted as a focus
The offensive struggles weren't all that surprising, especially once Buchner got hurt. Poor QB and WR recruiting really fucked them. I'm very surprised with the defense. Overall, they were solid but some of the underlying numbers weren't great and they were a very poor situational defense. Given the limitations of the offense, it was not a good combo. And for as good as the punt block team was, the return game... Woof
Lincoln Riley having Caleb punt last night just to keep our block team off the field was such a kick in the gonads
Some smoke that Leary is going to Illinois with his bro. So can likely cross that one off edit: maybe not that definitive.
Saw that too, also sounds like he comes from an ND family. I'm guessing he would pick ND if given the choice.
NIL games, think ND just passed he’s good, wish ND would’ve pursued sooner before the LSU shit but alas Keon
Oh this is rich. I guess the Stanford band did a skit about lds against byu that has gotten some people fired up and byu may take one of the Stanford commits who is also offended
Peloquin also following another grad transfer safety prospect from Bucknell So apparently they’re safety shopping
Whatever kid is a head case but talented enough to do what he wants. Here’s to hoping he’s crazy enough to sit next season out
He does it every game. Not a one off or something ND specific. Kind of funny, I wish we could get a QB with that much swag. Only guys I can recall with any semblance of big show personality were Kyren & Dex (prob missing a few)
Can’t actually find the image of him doing it. I’m guessing NBC has removed any images from the internet
