I have used PB blaster mostly. Just make sure it says that its penetrating oil, generally auto parts stores are your best bet.

The screw looks stainless but is rusted to the point of breaking, so I'm not sure. It probably is 40 years old though

If you can heat the screw and then spray it with pb blaster, it will work faster.

I had a similar screw problem and used a dremel to cut a slot on the head to use a flat head screw driver to get out. Not sure you can fit a dremel in there though

    Maybe
I have no idea what someone used on his house though, I don't know why a stainless screw would break so easily
I've honestly never known someone who had a problem with their overflow gasket on a bathtub
But it can cause a shit load of damage easily if someone keeps overflowing the tub, which seems like an easy fix, but I don't really know

You keep saying this but I've never actually filled the tub to even a foot below that level. It's a kid's bath and the gasket had deteriorated enough to where it was flaking into the water.

But perhaps this means that it doesn't really matter if I macgruber something to fix it, so long as the water doesn't reach that level?

Yea, if the water doesn't flow into the overflow, you are good

A year ago, it was just a big grass yard with no plants and a chain link fence. I'm sure I have a few somewhere, but here's a few from the start of construction.

This thread taught me to be deathly afraid of garage door springs. Couple weeks ago a friend briefly mentioned his door wasn't working properly. I said "whatever it is man don't fuck with it. call someone". He fucked with it. Sliced up all his fingers on his left hand. Had a chunk of metal lodged into one of his finger bones. Ended up in surgery. So yeah just a friendly reminder to not mess with your garage door.

I'll basically try to DIY anything but when a garage door installer told me not to fuck with the springs, they can take your head off, that was enough for me to write that one off.

Any ideas how to unbend a Rev a Shelf track for sliding garbage cans. Someone in my house was jamming trash into one and it bent the track to the point it’s nearly unusable. Just ordered another for $95 but something tells me I can fix it somehow.

Sounds like a job for a bench vice. Though if its cheap aluminum it’ll probably just break and you’ll have to buy a replacement anyway

I do this already with a wife and 2 kids makes things more exciting. Like years ago when I decided to replace a thermostat at 9 pm, in FL summer, with a pregnant wife. Long stort short would only blow heat. Honeywell support was closed. Thank god for twitter then cause I tweeted them and someone called me like 10 minutes later and got me fixed up.

Update on the tub overflow saga. The penetrating oil didn't work and the gasket appeared to be 2x the size it needed to be. We have an awesome plumber and needed a hot water heater quote. He got that sucker in place in 2 minutes with some grease and figured out how to get the cover on with the one screw still stuck in.

It was like watching peter warrick in his prime return a punt
