I’ve been shocked at the lack of kids from ND jumping in, must mean they are at least listening to the pitch to stay, or go. I’m trusting MF until it bites me.
I think everyone including mf was suprised last year. Probably part of the reason we didn’t have wr portal guys in.
Bottom line is, we'll probably see a dozen or more go. That includes the two who already declared. But the number isn't concerning. Every program will now see that many leave.
Kinda bizarre how everyone just assumed at the beginning of the year Bowers was the best tight end and that was that. Crazy he got nominated for Bilitnekoff and Mayer didn't
In case anyone had any doubt. This is like a career killer that no one is dumb enough to be wrong on.
If he flipped to OU at the beginning of the season and got hurt, why would OU revoke his scholarship?
Hmm, that's a stretch theory. I'd probably say he just doesn't want to upset ND / answer questions on why he flipped all year long. He just wants to pull the band aid off right before the holidays and show up on OU's campus two weeks later without dealing with the fallout.
With Amorion, we could tell his dad was super involved and happy about them being shitty. I feel like Bowen’s mom wouldn’t let him play this game though.
The gug just has to know with these guys the only shot they have is to keep them committed and not have the fan base out with pitchforks is the only way to have a shot
Probably best for him. I feel bad because he really seemed to show up this season and was open all the damned time, but didn't get many opportunities. Still, he blocked his ass off and continued to play hard. I really hope the 4 for 40 pays off big time for him.
I can't believe ppl willing choose this profession. I'm pretty sure my wife would be banging every other dude but me if I ever wrote something like that
We’ve decided that D3 is not getting Intel from inside, right? He’s also saying Bowen is still ND, he talks to players and parents, I think this constant barrage from OU is orchestrated, they want us to drive the kid away, he’s had EVERY opportunity to flip. I have zero clue who he signs with but, OU is currently getting what they want when we flip out over every “update”.
Reminds me of Loy driving to central Ohio on a Friday night to watch a Sonny Styles game, pulling an all-nighter getting an article up and driving back, and he committed elsewhere a week later and his brother is gonna transfer less than a year later lol We have all got parts of our jobs that suck, but that is something else
I think he told ND he was decommitting a few weeks ago (whenever there was some planned call between him and Freeman that was hyped up and then never spoken of again) and Freeman asked him not to go public until later to avoid possible fallout with the rest of the class. The coaches are lying to the beat writers for the same reason and the beat writers would rather pump the sunshine when they are told to and be wrong than go against the company line and be right. That last part is Tom Loy in a nutshell by the way. Every close recruitment, every year.
D3 basically said exactly this...OU wants ND to panic and make a dumb decision like for an ultimatum on Peyton ND hasn't done anything like that and they won't, what would be the point for ND to do that
Or, the OU guys are full of shit. If he decommited kids in the class already know, and we’re stuck without a replacement. I think the most likely scenario is that the kid is actually torn and he’s saying what people want to hear, we’ll know his decision soon enough.
Yea I mean they force keeley to pretty much shit or get off the pot and then didn’t fill his spot so not buying that
I don’t remember that at all Everything I remember is the staff did not make him decommit and were willing to let him take OVs even while committed
I don't think he'd put the rest of the class in jeopardy at all. Nor do I think that's the type of fear-driven strategy this staff operates under. This staff might make some judgement errors in recruiting, but there's no indication their mistakes are made out of fear versus aggression and confidence. Had he decommitted to MF, I don't think the staff would let him continue to quietly attach himself to their name for his own purpose. They obviously couldn't comment, but there would be leaks to drive the beat writers to say as much. They're not letting him own the entire story like that. He may lie to their faces and decommit later, but there's no way it wouldn't have gotten out if he'd already done so.
It seemed to be a little of both. There definitely was a double standard in play with him due to the caliber of player he is. He got more leeway on the committed but visiting thing than other players get. If there was an ultimatum, I wonder if it wasn't after the visits..."OK, now that you've seen the other schools..."
and he's still talking to the commits everyday and recruiting players (like the TX WR from Frisco) to go to ND while he secretly decommitted??? this literally makes no sense if he had disengaged from the other commits, then I would totally get it but that's not what is happening Amorion Walker and Keeley completely stopped talking to the other ND commits and that's when they knew something was happening
Who the hell is starting at safety next year if Joseph goes pro and Bowen de-commits? I'd want Bowen announced as a de-commitment ASAP so we can prep for the portal on 12/5 if I were the staff and we knew Bowen was for sure gone Much more likely Bowen is just telling both he's coming
you mean Xavier Watts and Ramon Hendersen? DJ Brown can come back on a 6th year as well and Clarence Lewis can move to Safety, he kind of played that role some already this year
I think that's a concern, anyway. No matter how talented, you can't plan on a kid currently in high school to be ready to start from day one. It's a position they should address through the portal, Bowen or not.
