Notre Dame has been making a hard push for Rancho Cucamonga (Calif.) Charter Oak cornerback Solomon Davis, who is currently committed to Arizona. Notre Dame has been evaluating Davis for some time, along with Oregon and other schools. The staff started making a push for him a couple of weeks ago as the current roster started to come into view in regard to guys not being here moving forward. For weeks my sources have been talking about this kid, so before anyone asks, this is NOT in response to being concerned about anyone in the current class. They love him as a slot corner, but also see him as someone who can play outside as well, and he could be a WR in a pinch. The current cornerback depth chart is going to see some overhaul and we’ll likely see multiple players from that position enter the portal, and their names will not be Hart, Morrison or Mickey for anyone wondering. This has opened up room and the staff wants to go the high school route and continue building depth in the class. At first Davis was interested but not overly, but as Mike Mickens and Chad Bowden have spent more and more time with him he has become more and more interested, and the Irish are really coming on strong in this recruitment. There’s work to be done here but they are positioning themselves well as they head into the finish.
That one feels like a potential hedge against current CB(s) hitting the portal. Some of those sophomores have to see the writing on the wall with Morrison and Mickey EDIT - probably should read the full post before commenting
