Honesty is the best policy. People would call him a liar and a snake if he made false promises followed by pulled scholarships and over-recruiting. Letting them know now and giving them plenty of time to find another school is the right and honorable way to handle it.
You’re definitely right about that. I’m sure he’ll meet privately with the current players he actually wants to stay. But still seems like they’ll be taking a ton from the portal. If the rumors are true about how many are already interested (probably slightly exaggerated) then it can be done.
Is Colorado going to be able to change their transfer admissions standards in 2 weeks like this where all these guys who couldn't do it before are good to go now? Doesn't that stuff usually take some time? At least it seems like it probably should.
Is Colorado notoriously difficult to get in to for an athlete? I remember as an out of state kid coming out of HS it was a long shot for myself but figured an athlete could figure it out.
CU people have been saying it's hard to get transfers in, and that they committed to making it easier while negotiating with Deion (or something to that effect).
Prime had a handful of options and I’m sure he/his agent made sure he will be able to hit the portal hard
The issue was transfer credits that apply to a CU major. Since we don’t have a general studies degree or something similar - majority of transfers would not have the credits for “progress towards degree”. Made it to where we could really only take grad transfers. it was getting changed no matter who got the job. New president took over and got inundated on the topic. He actually gets it. For the first time in 20+ years, the admin is on the same page.
He was HORRENDOUS at Florida. He was known to stand out as a terrible recruiter on a Dan Mullen staff which is incredibly hard to do since they were all ya know, not great at that.
Godfrey or Richard Johnson mentioned this as a possibility not too long ago. Satterfield has been looking to get out forever. Really sucks for Purdue now though. This is the perfect time for Brohm to jump.
Satterfield has been looking to leave for a few years now, and Louisville has been hoping he leaves before they have to fire him. The question now is if Louisville can land Brohm. I have to think it happens this time around.
If your Purdue you are going to have to give Brohm a Tuck like contract to keep him do you do it? Nothing Brohm is doing with recruiting or the portal makes me think he can sustain these 8 win seasons
Didn’t he try leaving after year one? Edit: had to check: he interviewed for South Carolina when they hired Beamer.
I know he actively tried to get the South Carolina job and was vocal about it. Weird for Cincy to go after him. Wasn't that good at UL
Now that you mention it I definitely recall his name being floated early in the UL tenure but can’t remember who it was about. SEC maybe?
Considering how much bigger the B1G deal is than the ACCs, there is no excuse not to offer Brohm a significant amount of money. Whether that keeps him is another story. But you’re rich — flaunt it.
Brohm took a team led by 3 former walk-ons to the B1G west title game and back to back 8-4 seasons. Dude is a hell of a coach…. It’s just hard af to do anything at Purdue. He would be a big loss.
In fairness, West Lafayette, Indiana, has to be one of the top 5 hardest places in the country to try and get kids to go to.
Satterfield hated Louisville and hated the fans. He absolutely made sure to to do this in the most fuck you as possible. First day of transfer portal is just dirty work. Love it
South Carolina when they hired Beamer. He interviewed in secret, then when it came put he interviewed, was very vocal about wanting the job
One thing Godfrey and Johnson both have mentioned is that Louisville still loves Charlie Strong. They didn’t say he’d be the favorite (that’s obviously Brohm) but it sounds like Strong could be a fallback.
