Trev must not have listened to 1620 this morning where according to one jabroni, Nebraska doesn’t deserve any credit for the win it was just Creighton playing their worst game in decades.
I think it’s both? However can’t he get a full ride in T&F and then once he starts playing he goes onto our 85 man?
Probably gonna get this kid too. 6’3 185lbs RB in HS, looks fast, but 6’3 is huge for a RB. Kwinten Ives,
We won't get Elijah Robinson but it's nice to have a coaching staff with connections and that people like. I'd be willing to bet that this kid likes his position coach, just not his situation at A&M, and Robinson told him to check out his guys in Lincoln. I thought it had to do with money-making sports. Whatever sport makes more $$ is the one that the scholarship will go towards. I don't recall where I heard that.
Yeah, pretty sure that's how it works for scholarships. It's meant to keep teams like Nebraska from giving full rides (legitimate or not) for other sports to football players to get around the 85 limit.
But if he never sees the field, he doesn’t count, correct? Unless, we are saying he is a football recruit AND track
I think that's also correct. You can have him on a scholarship for another sport unless/until he plays in which case he would immediately become a football scholarship.
Friend of a friend of Fran’s says he’s staying in Georgia. UGA also rumored to be trying to land Elijah Robinson, the aTm d line coach. If that happens, bulldogs will be very tough to beat for anyone in the northeast (not like they aren’t already but it’d be even more difficult)
I just meant that Fran and Robinson at UGA would make it awfully hard for anyone else to pull any kids from the northeast. Probably not that big of a deal for Rutgers (because we don’t recruit the same kids UGA does) or the huskers because y’all don’t rely that heavily on the northeast. But it will make it that much harder for Rhule and others to cherry pick NJ, PA and NY.
What’s the staff look like so far? I heard y’all were still in the market for a WR coach and that our guy Shaw is a back up plan. Apparently Rhule wants someone with TX ties at that spot?
OC: Marcus Satterfield WR: TBD QB: Jake Peetz (not sure confirmed) OL: TBD RB: E.J Barthel TE: Marcus Satterfield DC: TBD DB/RC: Evan Cooper DL: Terrance Knighton LB: TBD but there’s a name floating around some youngish guy who was with Rhule at Temple (I think) Strength: Corey Campbell Special Teams: Ed Foley
we never heard anything on him, which is usually not a great sign. We started a true freshman at corner the last 8 games but Gould was never heard from. not sure if injured or swimming in it.
Nebraska: Matt Rhule is retaining offensive line coach Donovan Raiola, per Husker Online. - From FootballScoop who is usually reliable but they are basing it off of Dean's journalism
no sense in getting worked up about anything football related until the results on the field start coming in, and I don't mean in year 1. Seen too many assistants, recruits, etc that were supposed to be our program saviors that flamed out spectacularly that I've concluded no one knows shit about anything with regards to our overhyped and overscrutinized program. All that matters to me is being able to beat the majority of Illinois/Purdue/Wisc/Iowa/Minnesota/NW by year 3 or so.
Over scrutinized af. like 6 other fan bases dork out about te coaches and assistant weight room staff but those programs have won something of substance in the past decade.
I'm all for seeing this play out. The early offers have been interesting. A shit ton of speed and dual sport athletes. Brice Turner's film doesn't look bad at all, and some of the others look very fluid. As far as Raiola, I don't put much stock into his performance this past year. Whipple coming in, Frost being Frost, and the level of talent on our OL being non P5 is something to consider. Rhule most definitely didn't offer him the job without him interviewing with Rhule and Satterfield on the board (scheme) and on the field (drills, coaching keys).
Our best assistant in a long time **allegedly** just beat the shit out of his wife. Absolutely nobody is going to be ‘thrilled’ with the retaining of Raiola but nobody knows shit at this point about fuck. At this point what the fuck does it matter? It can’t get worse. I got a text from my dad about us losing recruits/players we already have tonight. No shit old man, that’s happening to Bama right now. It’s a new age of football and it already sucks for us so let’s give it until at least the end of the first signing period 3 weeks after getting our new coach till we bitch, ok everybody?
I truly can’t believe some people are expecting this to be easy. Rhule is going to have to get a lot of transfers just to make it ‘meh’ the first year. There isn’t one team in the country that didn’t have to go through that. Outside of USC and waltzing your way into a top 5 qb is it going to be easy. I truly don’t know how dipshit some people can be to not try to bury the non-Nebraska coach 2.5 weeks in because of perceived hires about a system we all have little understanding of outside of 30k feet. If it backfires, shoot your shot. But let’s not do this BEFORE literally the bowl season. For fucks sake.
