I look back and laugh at the arguments claiming this wouldn’t be a slippery slope. Same thing with the BCS/Playoff moving from 2 to 4. It’s very easy to naturally see how things will go. At least directionally.
The portal + NIL is worse than free agency. It is stunning (but not really) the NCAA let this unfold the way it has. So many of these kids are going to wind up without a scholarship and without a home.
Loy confirms that Rees and Washington have been out meeting with transfers…not sure I really understand the cloak and dagger but we shall see
They were sick of protracted legal battles that they were destined to lose. It will either self correct or be legislated when state schools become the farm system for the top 15 to the point they start losing revenue.
I fully believe ND is tampering behind the scenes I do not believe Tommy Rees is having in person meetings with kids that are on active rosters at other schools
I think one of the things that's most impressive about this class is if you asked everyone in here who was their favorite recruit this year you would get a lot of different answers. Which means they've been getting a lot of really fun/talented players.
Well then there is this: “On Monday, Irish Illustrated and 247Sports first reported that Notre Dame extended a scholarship offer to Iowa undergraduate receiver transfer Keagan Johnson. The offer to the Bellevue (Neb.) West high school standout was extended by offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. The two have known each other well for years and reconnected on Monday to to make it known Notre Dame was coming after him” I guess it’s possible Rees is in a PJ making offers in person to transfers
Maybe I have Stockholm Syndrome, but I've moved into the camp of "give Tommy a year with a hand picked transfer quarterback and a WR room that has made good strides in late 2022" If he leaves this off-season, it'll hinder our 2023 transfer process. He's probably gone end of next year
I just can’t believe he’s been here for 7 years and survives last season unless it was freeman (as has been reported) who said no to a qb transfer last year
Seems like an incredible job on scouting by the staff He got North Carolina, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Miami, Kentucky, and USC pretty quickly but we were first of the majors in on him
I guess he wanted to play qb and that wasn’t happening at a P5, once he gave that up he became more attractive. Good on us.
Harry is a top 5 oline coach in the country. I don’t remember raoila much on staff but if he has learned under harry he cant be awful.
